Questions~

Hello everyone~ I happen to be a complete newbie to Lolita fashion. I've looked through the memories, but I wasn't able to find the answers I was looking for, so I was hoping someone would be able to answer them for me.

-What is a good length for skirts?
I know that they  preferably  are knee length or longer, but where should the cutoff be for shortness? Specifically, I was wondering if I could wear a few of my skirts that happen to be shorter, since I'm not going to be able to go shopping for new clothes for a while. They both reach the tips of my fingers or a bit past when my arms are straight down, and I feel comfortable touching my toes with straight legs in both. I always wear a pair of tights with them, so there's no skin showing from the waist down.

-What are good fabrics to use when making your own outfits?

- And lastly, does anyone know of any stores that would carry things such as petticoats in the US that are not online?  EDIT: I happen to be in the southern Ohio, northern Kentucky region.

Thank you in advance. Everyone here seems very nice, and I hope to get to know you all better. ^_^
