Otakon Tea Party Update!

Alright, ladies and gentlemen, I come bearing the promised update about the tea party I've been working on, and unfortunately, it's not very good news. Due to the size of our party, Brighton's wants to reserve a private room for us, which would be amazing and fun except for the fact that their room comes with a 22% service charge and banquet menu. Basically, tea that would, in their main room, normally be $24.50+tax is now $29.98+tax per person. This is a bit more than I'd imagined and planned for, and may be more than you ladies are willing to spend on the event, considering that it costs so much for out-of-towners to go to the convention.

So basically, I come with a question: would you ladies rather stick to Brighton's, or would you rather go with our second choice, Teavolve? The owners of Teavolve actually took initiative and e-mailed me after having read my posts here about the party, and they're offering a much more affordable option, should we decide to change venues. They're actually holding a special because of the convention, and seem very excited about the whole thing (as is well evidenced in their e-mail!).

Below is the current list of attendees as I have it. If your name is on the list, I'd love to know what you all think about our options.

Consider reservations capped. Guests are welcome--please let me know if you plan to bring someone--but no new reservations, please. Both restaurants can accommodate groups up to 40 people, but I would feel really uncomfortable trying to herd that many cats. Anyway, there have been two months to respond, so unless you've tried to RSVP and I've lost your info, you've had ample time to respond in some way, shape, or form. As you can see, there's one spot reserved, as I'm waiting to see if one of the girls staying in my room wants to go (since I'm not sure she knows it's actually going on--I don't see her on egl  ...ever, really (tropigalia , if you know how to contact her, could you ask if she's interested?)).

EDIT: Just in case people are scanning and don't click the link, reservations are full, except for guests of people already on the list.

EDIT2: It seems clear to me that the best option in this case is Teavolve, who have gone above and beyond the call in being warm, helpful, and friendly, as well as being both affordable and welcoming, with a wide variety of offerings that will appeal to a much larger crowd, so unless there's vehement disapproval, I'm going to go ahead and make a reservation tomorrow for Friday, July 20th, at noon. I have the restaurant's tea list, drink list, and menu, though a three-course afternoon tea service is just $19.95 (plus tax and gratuity). Teavolve is also going to be running a promotion for those with badges (10% off). Never mind that! I managed to argue a rate for everyone for $17.95. The menu for this was sent to me by Sunni, the amazing owner, and is below:

"Each guest will receive a pot of freshly infused loose leaf tea or they may have it iced (we have 65 varieties to choose from), a house-made English Cream Tea Scone served with Clotted Cream and Strawberry Preserves, four delectable tea sandwiches (choose from the list below) and a dessert trio."

Sandwiches to choose from (please tell me if you have a preference--vote for any four so I can make sure we don't get 22 votes for the same thing and one vote deciding the other three sandwiches):
Cucumber with Mint Cream Cheese on Country White
Roasted Chicken Salad with Almonds on Farmhouse Wheat
Fruit, Nut & Cheese Mousse Canape on Cracked Pepper Cracker
Deviled Egg Cream Cheese Mousse Canape with Herbed Topping
Goat Cheese & Watercress on Cinnamon Raisin Bread with Pecans
Garlic & Herb Goat Cheese with Grilled Zucchini Country White
Creamy Egg Salad on Farmhouse Wheat
Fresh Mozzarella with Sundried Tomato/Garlic Pesto on Farmhouse Wheat

My own votes are for Cucumber, Zucchini, Chicken, and Mozzarella, but they all sound really great (and better than the crab cake in tomato bisque that was mandatory on the Brighton's menu that cost nearly twice as much).

I'll need at payment in by one week from now, though if there's a problem please contact me and we'll work something out. My paypal is rinoastar_2003 AT yahoo DOT com.
