I'm almost new. I joined quite a while ago, had been previously lurking for ages, but never posted on here before. And this is probably not the best possible first post to make, as it's pretty damn boring. sorry! I'll make sure to post more interesting stuff soon, such as pictures & drawings :]
I'm terribly sorry for being such a bother, and i perfectly know these kind of posts get terribly annoying over time, but i spent the last hour looking through the memories and using the search function with all kinds of keywords, without real success [which is weird as ITS seems to be one of the most often discussed topics on here!], so I basically had to post.
I'm not really new to Lolita fashion, i've been interested in it for quite a long time, it's just that it took time before i actually started thinking about building myself a proper lolita wardrobe, and well, raising the funds to do so can also take some time.
I recently purchased a JSK and a OP from the Paris Btssb store, and got two pairs of Montreal mary-janes for Christmas, so things definitely got going lately.
Basically, i'm now trying to get together the basics of a lolita wardrobe, ie: bloomers, petticoats, socks, blouses, hair accessories. As of now, bags and parasols aren't my priorities.
I figured getting knee high socks would be easy in regular shops and i was thinking about making some sock toppers [in white + black + off-white] myself to be able to mix and match, so that's not a problem.
When it comes to items such as bloomers and petticoats which aren't supposed to be visible and won't make the 'spirit' of an outfit [as opposed to skirts, JSKs or OPs] i think getting brand isn't necessary.
After looking around on teh interwebz for a while i decided ITS would probably be my best bet, so i'll probably buy their poof petticoat [in black + white] and their eyelet bloomers [in black + white + off-white].
I thought i may as well get their alice bow [also in white + black + off-white] while I'm at it.
[if any of you own some of these items, feel free to tell me anything you'd think i need to know about them before ordering, i'd greatly appreciate it!]
So this leaves me with one dilemma: what about blouses?
I'd need one in white, one in black and one in off-white, and I'd like them to have removable sleeves preferably so i can use them during the whole year.
So i took a glance at ITS's blouses and i have to say, they don't seem to be that great, imho.
The one i prefer is their Dolly blouse, because the shape and lace seem nice and i definitely want a collar, which most of the others i find nice don't have.
However, although i like it, it's really simple [no detachable sleeves sadly, so not practical in winter] and the sleeves and collar seem rather small, so it's definitely not teh blouses of mah dreamz.
I'm just really not sure what to think at the moment :/
would you agree with the advice given about blouses in this entry?
i'd been hesitating between trying to get enough money to buy brand blouses [most likely Btssb] or sticking to cheaper alternatives, especially ITS. I reckon brand would be worth the money but the price difference is huge enough to make me seriously reconsider it. I just can't do much without any blouses but getting the money to afford brand would take me ages right now, whereas i'd have enough to purchase from ITS.
So finally, i'm getting to the point of this post:
Do any of you lovely ladies happen to possess the ITS dolly blouse?
If so, how is it? is there anything i should know before ordering? basically, any comments about it you can think of i'd love to hear!
Also, if you have pictures of it, especially being worn, seeing them would make me one happy gal :]
Do you think it would be better if i asked Leah to make me three custom made blouses to match my expectations better? [adding detachable sleeves and making the collar bigger, maybe also adding lace to the ruffle at the sleeve and a bow at the collar, & making the sleeves a bit bigger, something along those lines]
I've heard their custom works are actually really good, and their custom item gallery is also pretty nice, whereas all i've heard about their regular blouses was that the size was often completely off :s
and this just makes me doubt i'm gonna order anything from ITS at all :/ but then again they have improved over time it seems?
I need your wisdom now, egl!
Lord this got way longer than i wanted it to. I expect a bunch of 'tl;dr' comments, if any xD;
If you read all of this, here's one grateful cyber-cookie for you! :]
Thanks a bunch! ♥
