Here's the deal: I own the ETC blouse on the left, and while I really adore it, the fabric is giving me slight problems in terms of coordination. You see, I'm planning to sew a skirt for an upcoming meetup which is quite important, but have no idea what sort of fabric and/or style would go with it. I'm good at colour coordinating in general, but the stripes are giving me issues because I'm worried an all-white skirt would look too plain, even with possible matching light blue details. Prints would be too busy, light blue probably too matchy-matchy (although most lolita fashion is the epitome of matchy-matchy - Nina Garcia and Michael Kors would die :|) and well... I'm not sure if there's enough dark blue in the blouse to cover up for a skirt in the same colour.
SO. I'm asking for your help. I'm currently interested in using my new lace for the trim (i.e. too lazy to make ruffles unless I really have to), which looks like this. I also have this and basic beading lace in this style + some more sheer embroidered laces that would look far better on blouses etc, but I'm doubtful whether these would really work. It should also be possible for me to get print on the fabric, like a motif or something - but nothing that goes around the whole hem or nothing too intricate, because I'm a cheapskate like that. But the usual music notes etc bore me and the blouse doesn't really scream "omg cupcakes", so I'm running out of ideas on that as well.
In short, any ideas for the fabric colour I should use and possibly the design as well? I'm not looking at anything overly intricate, just something that would look good with the blouse since it leans more on the classic side than sweet anyway - hence why my original idea of stealing a design from Baby, AP etc has sort of fallen through so far.
Anyway, enough with the babbling, if anyone would be interested in giving me ideas I'd be more than happy.
Thanks for your time!
