Hello EGL, long time no see. Late post is late, but better late than never. This is my second year doing the wardrobe theme, and I think my wardrobe got a bit more goth.
At the end of last year I resolved to buy more accessories (which I think I succeeded at), buy more shoes (which I utterly failed at), and buy more JSKs and fewer skirts (I'll give myself a C on that one). 2017 was also the year I bought too many things with crosses, and found myself letting go of some of my sweeter dresses for space.
Black is still awful to photograph and I couldn't deal with retaking pictures in the maybe four hours a week of decent light I had. So some of these are old but retouched, by which I mean I ran them through a filter so they would match the new pics better. I still ramble too much.
A huge bulk of the new additions to my closet are Moitie. I've been obsessed with the brand for... a long time, but I fell completely into addict territory this year. Oops. At least it's pretty? Larger pics should be viewable by clicking the image.
Sheglit - Restraint Corset
Atelier Boz - Emily Jacket
Atelier Boz - Roland Jacket
Moi-meme-Moitie - Belt Coat with Double Cuffs
I actually wear this casually as soon as the weather gets cold. I refuse to keep a superfluous coat around to only wear with lolita.
Alice and the Pirates - Gathered Chiffon (2012?)
First and frilliest
Aatp - Versailles Rose Embroidery (2009)
I still love this set even if I can’t bring myself to wear the bonnet.
BtSSB - Velveteen Lace Frill JSK (2003)
Baby torchon lace is my second favorite style of lace I own.
BtSSB - Karami JSK (2010?)
Bought because I wanted an iconic old school piece that was summer friendly. Not sure if it really suits me though.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Flocky Ornament JSK (2014)
I honestly can’t figure out what to do with the shape of this dress.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Black JSK (2002)
Old MmM sometimes looks like it was designed by VM.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Velveteen Scalloped Lace JSK (2005)
Eyed this dress for months before buying it. The waist ties are a pain to tie because they’re a double layer of velveteen.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Cathedral Print JSK (2007)
One of my luckiest buys of the year! I’ve wanted a Moitie screenprint JSK for ages, but they never came up in my price range. So I jumped on this one. The print still has a sparkle to it… <3 Worn for Winter ILD 2017.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Flocky Cross Print Long JSK (2000)
Goth nightgown style. The materials used in this dress are some of the nicest I’ve seen, such an elegant drape. Usually worn with a sash to keep me from looking boxy.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Asymmetry Bustier JSK(2005?)
I like twirling around in this giggling about being a gothic fairy. But only when I’m alone.
Atelier Pierrot - Shirring OP (2016)
Nice for summer wear and for layering.
BtSSB - Isabel OP (2001)
The early 2000s were great years for Baby velveteen, but after this one I decided no more impractical velveteen OPs.
Metamorphose - Triple Tier Velveteen OP (2004)
Millefleurs - Velveteen OP
Lolita needs more rich dark purples. Seriously.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Backlaced OP (2001)
This dress is still a lovely piece, but man do I need more chances to wear it. Turns out a long velveteen one piece is not the most practical of dresses. Who knew?
Moi-meme-Moitie - Nun Collar Long OP (1999)
Hail the ancient one! This dress has been kicking around since I was in primary school, which is strange to consider.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Velveteen Ribbon OP (2002)
The bows on this dress are so fragile, I might just have to replace them completely.
Victorian Maiden - Sister OP (2002)
A legendary nun dress. I had never seen this for sale and so I was super excited to grab it. Another one of my most cherished finds this year.
AatP - Treasure Hunt in the Mystic Islands (2012)
Yohoho. Once I dreamed of having a closet of Moitie and AatP prints, can you tell?
AatP - End of Immortal Eden (2012)
An oddly easy skirt to wear in a simple way.
Atelier Pierrot - Corset Skirt
Not many chances to wear this, but I have sentimental attachment to it.
BtSSB - Velveteen Princess SK (2001)
From the same year as the Isabel above.
BtSSB x Koitsukihime - Stained Glass Angel (2006)
The only non-screenprint print I bought this year. I had this on my wishlist for years, and only in black. I now hide it in the back of my closet where it may never see the light of day.
Krad Lanrete - Mozarabic Chant (2014)
The colors in this print are amazing.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Velveteen Bustle Skirt (2002)
Moi-meme-Moitie - Cross Print Long SK (2014)
Glitter. Glitter everywhere. I had to quarantine this thing to keep my velveteen at least somewhat glitter-free. Damnit Mana why the glitter…
Moi-meme-Moitie - Manuscript Print SK (2001)
No matter what I put under this it’s shaped like a lampshade. If I got a second skirt I could have a pair to decorate with.
Moi-meme-Moitie - Chandelier Print SK (2007)
I make a game of checking for the candelabra in Moitie prints.
BtSSB - Rose Lace Blouse, Millefleurs - Classical Blouse II
BtSSB - Aki Back Blouse, Moi-meme-moitie - Unknown Blouse
Moi-meme-Moitie - Chemical Lace Yoke Blouse, Moi-meme-Moitie - Holy Cross Lace Blouse
Moi-meme-Moitie - Small Flower Pattern Asymmetry Blouse, Moi-meme-Moitie - Velour Cutsew
Moi-meme-Moitie - Black Blouse, Atelier Boz - Andrew Long Blouse
BtSSB - Waist Shirring Blouse, Angelic Pretty - Black Blouse
MAM - Crown Button Blouse with ti, Krad Lanrete - Phantom Of the Opera
All Baby Headwear
Basically all these are my headwear basics. The headband sticks around as much for the detachable roses and sentiment as anything else. I have no idea why the bonnet stays.
Pic 1. Velveteen Bar Headdress, Headbow, Swarovski Velveteen Ribbon Headbow, Neo Gothic Arch Headdress. Pic 2. Original Lace headdress and Rose Headdress
Of all my headwear the Original Lace headdress gets worn the most. The Velveteen Bar headdress was bought specifically to go with my BxW dresses. Then it came NWT and I haven’t been able to bring myself to wear it.
Neo Gothic Arch is so sparkly in person. Bought in part because I was kicking myself for missing the dress. Sadly the printed material is a bit thinner than I prefer.
I don't wear earrings much.
Pic 1- Offbrand, Voodooodolly, Moitie x3
Pic 2- All Moitie
I’m a firm believer in wearing as many necklaces as possible.
Voodooodolly, Moitie x2
Never thought I would get my hands on the rose ring in the center. From the days Moitie used real silver for their jewelry!
All Moitie. Bat bag was a very practical buy. I have a couple other bags that didn’t make it into my pictures oops.
Odds and Ends
Moitie Fur Stole
I’d love this in black.
Moitie and BPN handkerchiefs
I hate buying shoes…
Lolita Lola, Yosuke, Moitie
The moitie ones are too old to wear out so I just frankenstein walk around my apartment in them.
There we have it! Goals for next year are:
-Shoes. Honestly I need at least a couple more pairs.
-Buy new. I love the secondhand market. I love the deals, and finding old dresses I adore. But I also need to put more into the brands new if I want them to stick around. For the moment I’m in a financial situation where I can afford to buy new if a release catches my eye. Unfortunately there hasn't been much catching my eye. Let's hope that changes!
-Keep my wardrobe a reasonable size. Honestly there is a limit to the space I have and I need to be concious of that.
That's all! Comments and questions are always welcome, I love getting to know people here.
