I read the loli secret about how its really annoying when people talk about launching a lolita clothing line, and then never follow through, and I totally agree. But this is not one of those situations. I would really like to know what you like in lolita clothing structurally (such as shirred backs), and what you dislike (such as weak invisible zippers that get caught in your lining and lace). but I'm going to ask it anyway. I went through the memories and found reviews for Fanplusfriend, but I'm still unsure. It sounds like they are very hit or miss, but I'm wanting to know...are they more miss when you custom order or can their regular, non-custom items come messed up a lot as well? Their petticoats are on sale, and I think I can rope my mom into ordering one for me as a gift, BUT I don't want to do that if their non-custom items are just as likely to come to me screwed up. And I'm aware of the other stores I can order petticoats from, but I don't have the cash for them, and my parents are definitely not going to plunk down a good deal of money on something that won't even be seen.
Edit: My mom ended up deciding to order a 'cupcake' petticoat from English Charm because their shipping is cheaper. Funny story, mom ordered it this afternoon, got half off shipping because they are having a 'half off shipping sale' or something like that, then immediately received an email from them saying that one of them will be in the States soon and will just ship the item from there which will make the shipping EVEN CHEAPER! It was originally $8 shipping then $4 with the discount/sale and now it will be even cheaper. So, overall, I'm happy. Thanks for all the help though!
Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew of any JSK tutorials? I've searched high and low, but the only one I seem to be able to find is for a classic a-line JSK. If anyone has a tut for a "cupcake-skirted" (most descriptive term I could think of!) JSK I'd be very grateful if they could link me ^-^
EDIT: Thanks for all the replies guys! I'm probably just going to gather up whatever Christmas money I get and buy the stuff. I would try sewing as I already have a machine, but I'm awful at it and it's still an investment for materials (for something that probably wouldn't turn out well the first few times). Also, I guess I was a bit harsh on the shopping service - not all the fees are from it, it's just overwhelming to see that a purchase which by itself would be $140 is now double. Maybe I'll nix the cape if I can't afford it otherwise...
EDIT 2: Whoops, forgot why I made that edit in the first place- Anyone know a taobao group order I could join?
I've been calculating, meticulously planning and comparing for my first order of official loli gear (been researching for years actually, but I've never had the funds to dive in...)
Aaaaand I've hit a road block. I don't have any regular income or a way to get one at this moment, so it's taken quite a while just to save up what I've got. I'm trying to order a couple things so I can make two outfits with a little wiggle room to start.
By themselves, the items are totally within my budget! But with a shopping service...it's over $100 more. I'm avoiding qutieland because they mark up so much, but I heard good things about TaoBaoSpree and exchanged a few messages with them, so I calculated with that. The point is, does anyone know of a shopping service that isn't so crazy expensive? Also, I calculated the shipping based on Qutieland's weights. Does anyone know how accurate they are?
At this point, it'll only be if I'm really lucky this christmas that I'll be able to blow my entire savings on about four items. -_-; I wish TaoBao brands had someplace to ship from in the U.S...
Oh yeah, if it's any help/reference, these are what I was planning on buying: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=8341164637 http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=7605591703 http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=7605574069 http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=7977727905
The cost of those by themselves is about $140. With all the added fees of sizing (can't remember if I included that in the original or not), shipping (not including domestic), customs, insurance, PayPal, and the shopping service charge, it comes out to $271 on the dot.
It had been a long time since I'd done a photoshoot, and a lolita one at that, so I was delighted when my good friend asjy85 volunteered to model for me, even though I had no clear idea of where I wanted to shoot, or what the theme would be. Fortunately, we stumbled on a beautiful park in the middle of a bland housing estate!
I'm pretty new to the community, so sorry if this has been posted before!
I just ordered the Holy Night Story skirt in pink and was wondering how to care for it. Will I be able to put it on a cold wash cycle? I'm so scared of ruining it!
And also, I need to get a petticoat before Christmas, so I can't order anything online. Has anyone bought a good petticoat from a highstreet shop? I thought I heard someone say once that they bought a really good one from a fancy dress shop of all places!
Posted once before, but a bit more in-depth this time. Always had a vague interest in lolita, but never really thought it was something I would/could wear. Somehow, that changed. Mostly I like classic style, my favourite brands are Innocent World and Juliette et Justine.
Every year, just twice, Fresno's Christmas tree lane allow people to walk through the streets of Van Ness. Walking and passing by magnificent homes decorated with bright sparkling lights and spectacular themes.
