Japanese Lolita

Hi Everyone,

I am a British Fashion student, currently in my final year at university. My dissertation/thesis is focussing on the kawaii culture of Japan, mainly revolving around the Lolita lifestyle.

I would love to have the opportunity to interview a Japanese Lolita to make comparisons with those here in the UK. You wouldn't be named and this interview and all information would be used solely in my own work.

I would be most appreciative of any interest/help,

Please message/post me if you would like to participate,

Thank you,

What to do in NEW YORK? recommendations please!

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

So, I'm going to new york in december the first time and have no idea what  to do there!

I'm sure the big apple is full of places to go and things to do but I'm a n00b with this so please you who know better - help me!

I would like to know every lolita and lolitaish shop there is and if there's meet-ups then if some comes in to your mind - and - Also I'd like to know some good secondhand shops and shoe shops! if anyone knows where they are :)

I would love to make the experience worthwhile and not just come back there knowing I didn't do s*** there and the trip was worth nothing.

Thank you so much in advance, I really appreciate your help :,)

List of Japanese Street fashions?

This is tangentially related to lolita, but I was wondering if anyone knows of/ is there a list of Japanese street fashion known to those outside of Japan? Street fashion is always changing (like lolita and its one-off theme outfits), but I want more info on other street fashions. Like theres lolita, visual kei, gyaru, dolly kei, fairy kei, and their respective lj comms?

Party time!

Swap Meet Reminder

Ladies and gentlemen! This is a reminder that there will be a Bay Area swap meet on Sunday, November 28th, 2010 at noon.

New lolitas; swap meets are a wonderful way to purchase some very affordable brand. Not only will you be able to try things on before committing to buy, you can bargain with sellers as well.

Please remember to bring cash, as paypal does not like multiple transactions occurring from the same location.

If you have not already done so, please RSVP here so that I can PM you the address.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Dicken's Fair Lolita Meet! (SF Bay Area)

11/27/2010! EDIT: POSSIBLE DATE CHANGE TO 12/5/2010

"A holiday adventure into Victorian London, partying with hundreds of costumed players in over 120,000 square feet of theatrically-lit music halls, pubs, dance parties and Christmas shops on winding lanes. It's a twilight evening in Charles Dickens' London Town - a city filled with lively and colorful characters from both literature and history. Enticing aromas of roasted chestnuts and hearty foods fill the air. Cries of street vendors hawking their wares ring out above the bustling crowd. Dozens of lamplit shops are filled to overflowing with Christmas presents."

2010/2011 Winter Lucky Packs

Hello lovely ladies and lads, ひさしぶりね!

I happen to have the great fortune of being in Japan right now until next spring and I wanted spend the last of my shopping money for the semester on lucky packs from the various lolita brands. My question is, which brands typically release winter lucky packs and around when can I expect them to come out? I know that no information about lucky packs for this season has come out yet, but I was hoping that I could get some information based on previous years.

The only brands I know of that release winter lucky packs are BtSSB and Metamorphose, and I know that Innocent World only releases summer lucky packs. What about Angelic Pretty? Any other brands? Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Another New Blog

It's here if you want a look. The blog is largely just ranty, uncensored commentary on certain aspects of lolita as a lifestyle, but hey; it's illustrated! I will be doing other topics like sex and lolita and the press and convention behavior, just to get a broader idea of what will be coming in the future.

Wig/ Skintone query

Hello dear princesses~ hope you all might be able to help, especially those who use wigs for lolita : ) I wonder if based on your experience, certain wigs work better for certain skintones? I usually stayed with black/dark brown Gabalnara wigs, but I am really tempted lately to move on to those candy lavender/pink/platinum blonde wigs! But I am extremely fair (Asian skin) and wonder whether a light white-blonde wig would be suitable. I do know that honey blonde is a bad choice for me as I ever bought one from Cyperus for that.

Do share your experience with wigs for certain skintones : ) ~~ If you have photographs, all the better!

My current skintone is like this (and all that studying without sun isn't helping! Hee :) If you have any suggestions on colours fairer skinned people ought to choose + avoid do share those tips!! :)

ps: Irrelevant but I think this month's artwork for egl is GORGEOUS. I haven't visited in awhile but I was so pleasantly surprised, its so pretty! I would love to have a coordinate like that!
