Dream of Lolita Blouses

I'm getting a bag from this taobao shop, and so I may as well get a blouse from here rather than elsewhere to combine shipping, at least in china. So! There are 3 reviews in the review guides, helpful, but none of which are about blouses. Who has ordered a blouse from here and didn't post a review that got added to the guide? I'd like to hear your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Ameba Pico

Hi, I was just wondering if any other lolitas played Ameba Pico on facebook. There's a really cute lolita shop in the NYC Downtown area. I thought it might be nice to have some lolita buddies to play with. My pico id is Suteshi if you want to add me!

Wall Street Journal article: Dirndls and fashion

My father out of all people sent me this article.  It's from the Wall Street Journal.  And about fashion, and "racy" dirndls.

See article here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704116004575522072707578194.html?KEYWORDS=dirndl

Point of post: Discussion.

Things I thought about: Raciness with modesty.  The silhouette of the dirndl. Its apparently "rising popularity."  The silhouette and its sex appeal.  The subtle differences between dirndl and jumperskirts (I know I've seen this discussion pop up on egl already).  How the mainstream isn't "stealing" or appropriating lolita fashion, but how it might actually be *surprise* coming from somewhere else...like the dirndl.

And I'm sure all lolitas can relate to this: ""Imagine that you had five friends, and they all wore red sneakers," says Simone Egger, an anthropologist at the University of Munich who studied the increasing popularity of tracht at Oktoberfest. "Then everybody starts wearing red sneakers. They're exasperated. They say, 'We were doing this first, and we wear them the right way.' It's a lot like that.""

Petticoat recommendation wanted

Hello :) I've received my AatP Midsummer Night's Dream JSK II in the mail today, and as I'm rather tall, it's a lovely Babydoll-fit on me. Now I want to do the rather LARGE skirt (there's so much of it! so much print! *___*) justice and get a VERY poofy petti. Collapse )

a little embroidery

The last time I wore my favourite BtSSB blouse I put little pins through the collar (which I do often) and, for some reason (humidity maybe) the stupid things rusted and left spots that I couldn't get out even with my trusty Tide pen. Anyway, long story short, I decided to go the Momoko repair route and embroider my problem away, and I think the result is pretty cute ^^
and, just for good measure, some carousel horses and a theme-related mermaid xD

I've also been wondering, since I love to make hankies but I really don't need THAT many, are other people interested in having them? I'm not a professional or anything, but I do love making them. I don't *think* it's not allowed to ask, but if it is let me know, I'm just wondering if there'd be any interest in custom hand-embroidery for lolitas ^^;

BTSSB Small Item Shipping Cost- SOLVED Thanks :)

Does anyone know how much Baby the Stars Shine Bright charges for shipping (to the US) if you just order a small item like a pair of socks?

I've been debating whether or not to buy a pair of socks from them, but as it's the only item I'm interested in, I'm wondering if it will be worth it to purchase them from their online store or if it would be cheaper to use a shopping service. I checked the memories but didn't find anything related to smaller items.

Comfortable boots?

I'm going to Disneyland Paris next month and am already planning my wardrobe and what to wear on each day that I'm day. As I'll be on my feet for 18+ hours each day, comfort is paramount to me. I'm going to mostly be wearing casual classic lolita, and have run into a bit of a problem regarding footwear. For comfort I have to wear flat shoes, but trouble is I can't find any nice flat brown loliable boots that would be comfortable enough. Do any of you ladies have any recommendations you could give me? I really want offbrand as I can't afford brand prices at the moment.

My only specifications are they have to be brown and flat (and boots rather than shoes obviously).

I did think about maybe wearing my chocolate colour uggs, but am not sure if they would look cute enough :/ (and I know most of you are probably recoiling in horror at this idea which also puts me off wearing them)

I did do a search but was only able to find stuff about shoes, not boots.
