Black Alice's Tea Party on 31 July, 2010

Black Alice had a tea party to commemorate the closing of its physical store at The Cathay last Saturday and to celebrate that it will still be continuing through an online shop now.

We had tea at Octa Hotel, a nice little establishment from Japan that was very fore-bearing towards our antics, especially during the games segment! The staff there seemed quite taken by lolita fashion and asked for some photos of the attendees as well. They even did an online article for their website of the event after it was over, lol. If anyone is interested, you can read their online article here. I was a little lol at them calling Black Alice 'infamous' in their article but I suspect that's more due to a language thing as the owner is Japanese I believe, heh.

On to the photos!

A theme I can really sink my teeth into!

So I don't really know how to describe my style outside of lolita with anything other than "THIS IS WHAT I WEAR WHEN I'M NOT IN LOLITA". You'll probably notice that there's a fair bit of crossover with my lolita style and my regular style, I find that they're pretty much two sides of the same coin for me or something (idkidk). I can say that I'm really influenced in both my lolita and out of lolita style by the Givenchy Fall/Winter 2008 collection.

New layout & themes - August

Our new layout is here with big thanks to ichigo_shock ! You can check out more of her work on her DeviantArt. Thank you very much to everyone who submitted, and i hope to see even more entries this month. Please don't be afraid to step up and submit some work or theme ideas ~ everyone is welcome to submit theme ideas in this post. If you want to submit artwork for next months layout, please check this post.

The General Theme for August is Your look out of lolita.
Show us your style outside of lolita! Photos with direct comparisons of you in and out of lolita style would be preferable, along with perhaps explanations about why you do or do not choose to wear lolita. Remember to keep all images under a cut.

The Aesthetic Theme for August is Vintage.
This month we'd like you to show us your co-ordinates inspired by vintage fashion. Vintage finds, photoshoots, books - anything goes so long as it's vintage this month!

Re-Post (Cuz I'm stupid) Help: Finding Fabric

Ahhh~ My first post on this site!

Okay anyway obviously I've seen them, but everywhere I go it's only being sold in half yard or 1 yard increments (and wildly expensive for just that one yard). So I was wondering if anybody knows where I can get these fabrics or any Lolita fabrics at large quantities and for cheap.

^-^ Thank you

Skirt swap!

Hello lovelies,

I hope this is appropriate here, and I'll report this in sew_loli as well, but I just started a swap on Craftster for a Lolita skirt swap, and am looking for some participants. I currently have the limit set to ten people, but if there's a lot of interest I'll expand it.

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=355712.msg4162684#msg4162684

Your options are, either if you have a skirt that you want to get rid of, you can trade it, or you can make a skirt from scratch, and receive one in return.

Hope to see you there,
Miss Pippi <3

Fitting Tips?

I hope this is an appropriate post for egl n_n but anyway~

While I'm not too new to lolita fashion, I am new to to wearing it. I finally decided to take the plunge and bought my 2nd dream dress, an OP from Mary Magdalene (I was thinking about doing a little review but I'd think this comm wouldn't need it?), which I hear runs a bit smaller than other brands. I'm a fairly petite girl.

Book bags

( Please let me know if I'm not posting in the right community! and I'm sorry in advance for my partially broken English! )

Baby and IW released book bags but neither are really to my taste in term of design and usefulness... although I'm in love with the concept!
So, I got in touch with someone who can message chinese manufacturers and I was told that it would be possible that one of them will be interested to produce their version of the bag if there's enough interest.

So this post will serve as interest gauge for book bags and also to know what would be the best design elements :)
