PAX/ Penny Arcade Expo

A the end of March in Boston there is going to be the first ever Penny Arcade Expo on the east Coast.  Up until now it has always been In Seattle Washington.  My husband, his sister, her boyfriend, and I are going.  Is anyone else going to be there?  I know it is not the standard anime or comic con where we see each other but none the less,  I hope to see some Lolita's.
Not only am I going the PAX but I am making 2 dresses themed to the main characters of the online comic (Gabe and Tycho).  Check out the rough sketches of them here.  I will be posting pictures of the dresses done as soon as I can get my butt in gear.

egl_comm_art - Go vote!

Greetings from one of the mods over at egl_comm_art!
For those who don't know of us, we're a Lolita art community, centered around the sharing and critiquing of Lolita-based art, regardless of skill level and level of completion. Need suggestions on what direction to take a certain piece? Afraid of your work getting torn to pieces by the general egl community? Come join egl_comm_art and post your work!
In addition to being a safe haven for uncertain artists, we also do art competitions. The currently running competitions are:

January's theme: Photography - The object of this theme is to create a photography piece, where you're either the photographer or the model (or both!). This competition is over and needs your vote for the winner! Click here to go vote!

Contest #4 - Wonderland - The object of this contest is to create a piece and accompanying icon to be used in the community, depicting your own personal Wonderland or a Lolita/Alice in Wonderland crossover. The deadline for this competition is February 15th! More information on this contest can be found here.

February's theme will be announced shortly. Keep an eye on the art community for the announcement!

You must be a member in order to enter our competitions (but you don't need to be a member to vote! Go vote!). Artists and lurkers alike are all welcome to join, just please read our rules before posting.

Reserving from BABY

God, i'm so annoyed. It's my first time ordering from Baby. I wanted te Sleeping beauty JSK in black and followed carefully the tutorial that i found here in EGL...and it didn't work. :(
Also, most of the pictures of the tutorial aren't working anymore...so maybe i missed something?
I sent an e-mail to BABY about the situation but i'm afraid the JSK will be sold out by the time they reply to me.

Can someone fix the tutorial for the sake of all the newbies like me?

Its that one:

Aprons on sale!

I thought some of you might be interested to know that the BYU bookstore has their 'flirty aprons' on sale right now. Some of them are really cute (I especially like the cherry one and the cupcake one) - They'd definitely be good for some everyday-lolita wear! Something cute to actually cook in :D Anyway, here's the link:

Love and loss: The shoes that got away

Every girl has a handful of shoe love stories of the shoes that got away, either because they don't come in your size (story of my life), cost too much, or were just too hard to find. What's your tale of shoe woe?

This post is inspired by my lament about these shoes not coming in my size: www.5thfloorproductions.com/lalegavsaans.html
and these shoes being out of my budget: www.stage-fright.com/marie-antoinette-shoes.html

Poupee girl and you

Have you ever dressed your poupee girl up to match a lolita outfit you wore? Alternatively, has a lolita coordinate you dressed your poupee doll in inspired you to put together a similar coordinate with your own wardrobe?

Here are my examples;

I'd love to see your poupee-twin matches, so post away!

Edit: And, just for fun (and if you don't have any 'poupee twin' photos), is there a poupee girl coordinate that you wish you could wear in real life? Here's my fave.

Opinions on an Original Skirt Print? Possibly only $38 :D

Hello everyone, I’ve been working on some original skirt print designs and have come up with an idea of supplying low cost skirts at about 38 dollars. At that price they are made from a soft good quality cotton and lace (no crappy materials) but do not come with lining which is not required as the material is not see-through and looks fine if worn with a proper colored petticoat (white for light colors, black for dark, ect.). Lining will be an option but will cost extra. It would be great for new and old lolitas who want a cute casual skirt at an affordable price. But in order to make the skirts at this price I will have to order the materials in bulk and therefore will have a reserve for it. But for now I want everyone’s opinions on the idea, if anyone would be interested, and what your thoughts on the print and color options of the print.
