A loli newsletter?

Oh noes, it's another one of those HALP ME WITH MAH HOMEWORKZ posts! >_<;;

Well...sort of. Here's the deal. I'm creating a newsletter for my computer-mediated publication class, and I wanted to make a lolita-related newsletter. its just two pages, and I basically want it to be a bulletin on the news/events in the lolita community.

My question for you is, what do you think would be the best information to include in something like this? Are any brands releasing new prints, or having sales? What do you think are the biggest "trends" in the lolita style right now? Any concerts, conventions, or big meetups?

Finally, I'd like to do an "outfit spotlight" on the newsletter, so would anyone be willing to submit a full-body photo of them in a recent outfit, including:
Name (First only is okay)
Point of fashion/outfit theme
Brand(s) of all items in the outfit
And a quote/comments you want to include

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and contributions!
I'll post the piece to the community once it's been finished. ^^

*Please note, this will NOT be published or distributed anywhere. It is for a school project only!*

I need a quick English GLB scan.

Can someone upload a scan of the Baby, the Stars Shine Bright skirt instructions from the English Gothic and Lolita Bible volume 2? I would have bought it when it came out, but I'd already bought the Japanese vol. 25 a year before and really didn't want to pay for the same patterns and content a second time.

I need a big poofy petticoat to make me look like a big cupcake. :D

Thrift-Store Lolita...inspiration/ideas?

Hey there, so I really have like no lolita clothes, and I need some for a presentation.

I'm broke, so I'd appreciate it if anyone could post some really cool/cute outfits in which all the stuff was bought at a thrift store or a store like Target/Kohl's/etc. I don't have enough time to wait for something to be shipped if I were to buy from a user or whatnot, otherwise I'd do that.

I just want to get some ideas for what you can find. Thanks a lot!

I Could Use Some Advice From Fellow Loli's...

First of all, I got my first lolita dress two weeks ago!! >.< My friend told me that she didn't think I should wear my lolita in public. She said that people would not understand that it was fashion and (specifically men) would think I was trying to make a different kind of statement.... My dress isn't super short either. She said people might be cruel towards me... And I don't think so. I think people wouldn't understand but why should I care?

So I want to know how people respond when you wear lolita in public. Are you pointed at? Mocked? Whistled at? I'd appreciate anything...

RHS questions...

I bought a pair of rocking horse shoes from someone online, and they need a little bit of work (used, bought them for the size/price).

First thing's first, they're a little bit too snug. I mean, I can wear them, and given how walking is in these things, the shoe doesn't really rub or anything, but they're still just a tad too tight. Has anyone ever tried stretching RHSs before? (They're wooden soles, if that helps at all.) I was browsing online and I saw a bunch of home fixes (freezing water in them--wouldn't that affect the glue? Is that okay for the wood?), spraying the insides with alcohol and wearing them till they're dry, buying a shoe stretcher (which I really don't want to do), and then of course taking them in and getting them increased at a cobbler. Have you guys tried any of these? How much to they generally charge to stretch shoes? And being that they're wooden soles, which don't stretch, will stretching the base of the shoe affect how well it's sticking to the wood?

Second! The other problem I have with the shoes is that they're white, and I don't wear any white. So, I plan to dye them! I got recommended a few tips (most common, find some dye for leather). I was considering maybe doing some sort of design on them, and possibly the soles too as they're unsealed. Has anyone ever customized their RHSs? I was thinking of dying them black, and leaving like little hearts in white or something, and possibly doing something with the sole, staining in a design or something. If anyone's ever customized theirs, please post pics! I'd love to see what you've done!

Thanks in advance ^^<3

This american. . . loli

I've been listening to allot of This American Life allot recently and I was thinking. .. it might be kind of fun to do a radio story or a series of radio stories on lolitas in the US (and around the world. . but I've gotta start small)
I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the This American Life radio shows but they choose a theme for each show then do a few stories that follow the theme (as host Ira Glass explains every episode) but I think that might be fun to do with lolita.

Right now it's actually easier for me to do video as my camera records video and my computer has Imovie for editing.  But I really almost prefer the feel of radio . . . I think it would be esspecialy interesting to keep stories about something as visual as lolita in a blind medium.

What do you guys think?
