Prom

I'm trying to think up ideas for a egl prom dress. Does anybody have any ideas, suggestons, pics, comments? I know its really early for me to start planning, but it would be so neat to go as a loli. I would love to post pics after the outfit was completed!

fireworks dress

Hi! I've been wanting to post this for a while.

4th of July dress
Unfortunately I only had about three hours to make this dress...and no zipper or petticoat, so it's not perfect but I still loved it. Collapse )

I hope to be posting things to sell soon. I've really enjoyed reading this journal.

EGL Shoe Sizing

Hi!  I searched through community memories for any kind of definitive post about shoe sizing, and was unable to find one.  So I'm hoping, that through this postand resulting comments, a memory-worthy post can be made!

I am a US 8.5 B (sometime 9 if shoes run small), UK 6, Chinese and European 38.  I am not sure sure if I would always need an LL in Japanese shoes, or if it varies from brand to brand (I noticed in comments that someone said their US 8.5-9 foot is dwarfed by the LL shoes they  got from Baby, The Stars Shine Bright. So I am wondering about variance in size from brand to brand, style to style, and I'm asking community members to comments with their experiences with the sizing of different brands, and any other solid info about sizing.

I also wonder, when measuring the foot, are were supposed to be measuring our foot (and isn't the left that tends to be larger?), or the insides of or shoes (I've tried that, and it seems to varies from shoes to shoe...toe shape, heel height, etc)?

Also wondering which brands (and distributors besides Cosmates) ship to the U.S. and elsewhere?

This article tells how to make rag curls (sausage curls, or as I've seen them called in this community, barrel curls).  They stay in my hair better than ones does with a curling iron would, and hey, it's the way Victorians did it!

http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip049.htm

The article says strips of cloth 1" wide and 6" long, but I suggest more like 8" long because it makes the ones behind your head easier to tie (I tie them like a shoestring so they're easy to tie/untie).  I do it when my hair is still pretty damp after washing, because I find it so much easier to work with wet, and then sleep on it after I'm done rolling them (they're still damp in the morning and I have to wait a while.  So it IS best to do it with drier hair if you don't have the time to wait).  Wrap the end of the lock of hair around the middle of the rag strip, rag held vertically, and then keep rolling until the coil is close against your head and then tie it.  I spray it with hairspray a few times before I got to sleep.  When you take them out, untie the rag and try to hold the coiled hair intact as you pull the strip out of it from the BOTTOM (seems to mess the ringlet up if you pull from the top).  I wasn't going for a lolita look when this picture was taken--more of a Victorian/early 20th century look, but they'd work perfectly for EGL.

One of my first sewing projects...

Hello all. A while ago, my friend 'nee-chan gave me this old black dress her mom had found whilst cleaning their basement, or thrift store hunting, or whatever it is her mom does that finds clothing. Anyways, this dress was really in pathetic shape, but the fact that it was black and had a poofy skirt made me think...

So... I hope that amused you for like, five minutes...

For the sake of my boredom...

Let's talk lolita clothing colors. We all know the classic blend for gothic lolita outfits are black and white. And whenever we think of sweet lolita, white and baby pink splash into our minds. But what colors really strike you, besides the obvious, as a good blend for lolita clothing? What colors are extremely important to avoid wearing or mixing?Opinions are greatly appreciated, but if you could provide a picture of the loli clothing in those colors, it would indeed be very nice. Try to be original, blackxwhitexred is so over done ~_^ <3

edit- a explanation of the colors you choose please. Sorry for not mentioning that before.

Commission request

I'm wanting a white blouse. Short puff-sleeves, correct hemline for a loli skirt, lace and ribbons. Rather like these:

I'm not too bad at sewing myself but i'm hesitant about blouses and I want this to be really good quality as it'll be a staple piece for me so i'm willing to pay a decent/fair price.

Please comment if you'd be interested with a price if possible. I'd need to see pictures of some of your past work and also i'm in the UK so you'll need to be willing to sell internationally. I can only pay via paypal too (credit or non-credit card both fine)

Thanks in advance!

EGL FAQ comment post

I have posted the FAQ in the previous entry.
The entry has comments disabled to prevent confusion in the future as that entry will be linked on the community info page. I was going to host it off of my website, but I think the hit-rate would crash my site. Additionally it will be easier to maintain on LJ.

So this is the official comment post for the new FAQ.
Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions, and questions in the post.

Some things I want from you kids:

1. Seamstresses
Please comment with the comment title "seamstress" if you would like to be listed in the FAQ as taking commissions. Please give a link to examples of previous work, your email, and your website if you have one. If you do not have links to your work, you will not be listed in the FAQ. You can always contact me at a later time to be added if you don't want to be listed at the moment but will want to be in the future.

2. Artists
Please comment with the comment title "artist" if you would like to be listed in the FAQ as taking gothic&lolita related artwork commissions. Please give a link to examples of previous work, your email, and your website if you have one. If you do not have links to your work, you will not be listed in the FAQ. You can always contact me at a later time to be added if you don't want to be listed at the moment but will want to be in the future.

3. art websites
Please comment with the comment title "art website" if you can think of any of the most frequently asked for art sites. I don't have any listed currently, so list all of them you can think of!

Thanks so much!
