Satin Lolita?

I want to make my own lolita dress or skirt, but I'm in a grim financial situation so I will be using what fabric I have already. I have a bunch of blue satin, which was originally going to be made into a Saber cosplay, but I never got around to it and I don't think I ever will. Since I have a lot of it, and I have a loliable blouse that matches it, I want to use the blue satin, but I'm afraid it might be ita...

Does anybody know how to make satin lolita without it becoming ita? Or any suggestions for styles?
