Ita to lolita: An 18 month journey

Mine has a short journey of fairly rapid change. While I didn't really know what an 'ita' was when I first started, I definitely committed a few lolita sins along the way. I posted my first coord online in December 2012 and I started buying actual lolita clothes in about March 2013.

December 2012

This is the first ever outfit I tried. Very casual. I chopped up an old waltz length ballet tutu as my first petticoat. I was always aiming for classic style, but as you will see it was a little difficult to simply put that out of my existing wardrobe.

April 2013

Cosplay lolita for my first meet up. Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Haha cringe!

May 2013

My second meet up. I loli-fied a vintage dress. I tried to buy a couple of vintage dresses and make them lolita, but it really didn't work. I had a BTSSB OP at this time, but for some reason I didn't wear it! Also white knee socks are every newbies best friend!

June 2013

My 21st Birthday dinner with my family. I think I liked OPs because you didn't have to think about how to coord with blouses. #creepysmile

June 2013

Constant problem of petti deflating. I still love this HMHM jsk, so hard to coord though!

August 2013

First replica. I couldn't afford the real thing and I nearly died when I found the replica second hand! Unfortunately it was just a little too short and it has moved on to a new home.

August 2013

I'm pretty sure I was buying everything in sight. This Anna house OP looked okay, but fairly bad quality. This one too has found a new home.

My wardrobe as of August. See if you can spot the vintage amongst the brand...

August 2013 (still)

My first taste of Innocent World. I am now completely an utterly obsessed devoted. This is definitely more my current style.

September 2013

Our first meet up in Newcastle. I'm still in love with sailor, but this too has found a new home. I decided it wasn't classic enough.

October 2013

This is where I finally feel like I came into my own classical style.

December 2013

That time I got to meet Misako and I felt like a real lolita. Also if you wear lolita outside during a festival, wear sunscreen!

December 2013

I started to wear casual classic a lot because I had so many pretty clothes and no where to wear them.

2014
This year I decided to focus on buying dream dresses, socks and outerwear (instead of anything I even vaguely liked).

February 2014

Book print! My first taobao order. Still having trouble with blouses, this my first brand blouse (IW). Blouses are the bane of my existence.

April 2014

First new brand purchase. Wore this to a wedding and everyone loved it!

April 2014

First dream dress acquisition. My only hope it that I did it justice. I also discovered the Japanese auction sites, slowly became poorer.

Insert here: A heap of casual outfits. I started working at a place that doesn't really have a dressing policy, so I basically wear casual classic to work almost everyday. It's not my dream job, but it is pretty damn close! Also I went to Japan and learned a lot. There are some things you will never understand about lolita unless you go to Japan.

July 2014

Winter meet up a couple of weeks ago.

And this is me now! I'm glad there wasn't anyone who specifically told me my outfits were crap in the beginning. I liked finding my own way into a style that suited me.
