Laundry Advice?

I recently purchased a BTSSB JSK that arrived with some stains and yellowed lace. When I took it to the dry cleaners, they didn't want to launder it due to worry that the dye would run onto the lace, although it seems that the laundry tag says that it can be washed and ironed (although not machine dried). Does anyone have any experience with laundering this dress or one similar? It's a pretty common style, so, any help would be appreciated. I'd hate to ruin it by acting rashly, although my first instinct is to hand wash or throw it in a delicates bag on the gentle cycle with some color catchers.



Edit: Total success! It did bleed, but very little. And there was no transfer to the lace. I first pre-treated the stain with a paste made from oxyclean, and then I soaked the whole dress in the bathtub with oxyclean, having to change the water several times. Then I sprayed down the lace with Shout and put it into a delicates bag to throw into my washing machine. I hung it up to air dry overnight, and woke up to wonderful results. The lace went from old ivory to a sparkling bright white! The stain completely lifted. All it needs is a little ironing, and it's back to brand new.
