Meta Rose Birdcage Vest Pinafore Dress REVIEW

I just got this JSK in the mail today and wanted to give some additional pictures and provide my opinion on it.

I'm not a big fan or most of Meta's prints, but I really loved this one. It's my first order from them, and I was happy with how easy ordering from them was. JetJ is faster to ship, but Meta's turnaround time (2 days) seems pretty good! Anyway, onto the pictures!

When I opened the package, my first thought was, "Well 'brownish pink' is definitely and accurate color description." The color is a little hard to capture and is a dusty, slightly peach-y pink. The close-up of the bodice on Meta's product page represents it fairly well, but it's one of those fabrics that will drastically change color depending on the lighting. I would imagine that the silver/grey one will definitely be greyer in person (I think it would look really lovely.). It has a shine to it but doesn't look cheap. It's a very lightweight dress, which I found to be slightly disappointing as we're moving into fall, but it will be nice for spring and summer wear. I didn't get a good picture of it, but I think it's good to note that all three tiers of the skirt are actually one piece of fabric with the ruffles sewn onto it, because of this, I think the skirt has a really nice shape.

The color of the glitter on the birdcages is also hard to capture. It's a warmer toned gold than in any pictures. It will go from a bright gold to a rosy/peachy gold depending on the lighting.

I like how the corset lacing is attached. The buttonhole stitched cuts in the main fabric seem less delicate than the lace loops that AatP uses.

Back

Front

One thing that kind of surprised me was how the "nest" is rxicuted. On most of the front, the skirt is stitched to the bodice underneath the vest, but on the sides and back, the skirt is sewn directly to the bottom of the vest causing the fabric to gather differently depending on the location. This is my first piece with a vest bodice, so I'm not sure if all brands do them this way.

Here is a shot of the inside of the bodice. I'm really happy with how well it fits my small (31 inch) bust. I also like how the vest pattern is fully executed on the inside like a real vest would be. The buttons are attached really well and don't feel like they'll be giving me any trouble in the near future, which is really nice, especially since metal buttons sometimes like to cut the threads around them.

I was asked to talk about the polyester on the bodice. It's very soft and smooth and doesn't seem like it will snag easily, which is the part I was most concerned about. Image link: http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j270/Razeasha/Lolita%20Outfits/garment%20closeups/DSC00027_zps8359d331.jpg

Finally, for those interested, here's a link to a picture of the washing instructions: http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j270/Razeasha/Lolita%20Outfits/garment%20closeups/DSC00051_zps4d069400.jpg For my non lolita clothes, a major deciding factor is whether or not I can wash them. I would be hesitant to hand wash this because of the glitter, but I also know people have some reservations about dry cleaning something like this as well.

Overall, I believe this JSK lived up to my expectations and hopes. I took a point off for how the vest changes from overlapping the skirt to being sewn to it.

I hope that was enough information to give toy a good idea of the JSK's details. If you have any questions about the JSK or would like more pictures of certain things, just ask!
