The 2011 and 2012 Otakon lolita tea parties were a big success, so this year let's celebrate in true royal style! We'll have tea, a coordinate contest, a raffle with prizes, and a chance to get away from the commotion of the convention center and enjoy some elegance before the weekend really starts.
♕ Date: Friday, August 9th, 2013
♕ Time: 3:30 pm. The tea will take approximately 2 hours.
♕ Location: Brighton's Orangerie in the Royal Sonesta Hotel (formerly known as the InterContinental Harbor Court), which is just a short walk from the Baltimore Convention Center. Since the tea party is held outside Otakon, lolitas not attending the convention are welcome!
♕ Dress Code: Please dress in your royal best-- that means crowns, tiaras, and any other royal raiment you like! This is a formal event, though, so no casual outfits. Please dress to impress!
♕ Food: The hotel's Traditional Tea consists of scones, tea sandwiches, pastries, and a variety of delicious teas. See the Brightons website and their afternoon tea menu for more information. Vegetarians can be easily accommodated if you just let me know when reserving your seat.
♕ Coordinate contest: Show off your best royal style and enter the coordinate contest! Tea party attendees will vote on their favorite looks and the people with the most votes will receive prizes.
♕ Raffle: There is no gift exchange this year, but instead there will be a raffle! I've collected items from indie designers such as I Do Declare, The Snow Field, Moss Badger, Belladonna, Tea Love Crochet, Sweet Mildred, My Dearest Victoria, Roserie, Moss Märchen, and several others, so there will be many prizes to be won ♥
♕ Cost: $30 per seat (cost includes tea, tax, tip, and paypal fees).
All 30 seats have been reserved and paid for, so at this point I can start taking names for the waitlist in case anyone cancels! Leave a comment below if you wish to be added to the waitlist ♥

If you reserved a seat but have since discovered you can't attend the event, you may cancel your seat anytime before August 5th and I'll refund your money. Any cancellations after August 5th at 4pm cannot be refunded because the number of attendees will be set at that point.

UPDATE: There's been a slight change of plans! Instead of having tea in the Explorer's Lounge as we have the last two years, we'll be in Brighton's Orangerie, which is right next door. I'm looking forward to this since I've only ever walked past Brighton's, but I've been told that some Otakon tea parties of yesteryear were organized there. The room features marble floors and a lovely chandelier, and we'll have it all to ourselves as a private party. Here's a photo:

UPDATE 8/2/13: another change! I just found out Otakon scheduled the Lolita 101 panel at 1:45pm on Friday, which would cut into the tea party time and force people to leave early, so I've switched the time of the tea party to 3:30pm on Friday. If you've already reserved a seat but this time switch has made it impossible for you to attend, just send me a pm or comment below to let me know you want to cancel your reservation and I'll refund your payment immediately. That being said, I still hope to see everyone at the party! Thanks ♥
