UK to crack down on internet porn and child abuse - possible implications for the Lolita community?
The UK Prime Minister announced plans today to impose blocks on all forms of Internet pornography, legal or not, and introduce an opt-in system for those wishing to access adult material. In addition to this, the government also plans to create a blacklist of terms considered objectionable, most of which relate to images of child abuse. Anyone who searches for such terms in search engines such as Google will be presented with a blank page, and a warning will appear on their screen, and they will be identified.
This worries me a great deal, as search terms that are perfectly acceptable will be blocked. I have no doubt that 'Lolita' will be included in these terms, meaning that those searching for sites about Lolita fashion will be unable to find what they're looking for, and the fact that they may be included on some sort of list as though they were a criminal frightens me.
