Post-Lolita: Where does your closet go?
This has just been a lingering thought in my mind that I've had for awhile ever since I started Lolita, especially since I know that later on in my years I will probably get out of it. I was wondering what some of you Lolitas plan to do with your closet once you stop wearing the fashion or particular style? This of course, also pertains to Kodona and Aristocrat as well.
I know there is the typical "Leaving [Insert style here] Lolita" sales on the EGL Sales Community as I know alot of us could use that money elsewhere, but I kind of want to know what happens when you can't get rid of your entire closet or if some of you don't want to go that route?
Would you try to salvage pieces and incorporate it into your new style/fashion or rather give it to a friend who is still into it?
Do you guys have other ideas of what to do with it?
While I posted general questions above, my main reason for posting this discussion is rather for you parents/future parents/people who want to be parents.
If you have a child, hopefully who will be into Lolita, would you rather hang onto your wardrobe and pass it on to your child or just sell it and be willing to buy a whole new wardrobe for them later? If your child wasn't into it, would you sell it or still rather pass it on?
If you are still into the fashion, would you try and have similar closets? Would you wear something that works with Lolita (ie. Parent will wear Aristocrat while child wears Lolita)? What about when you're older?
I apologize if this may seem too personal or unrelated or even pointless to talk about, as I know most would probably say they just sell it and see it as the most logical thing to do, but I am just wondering if any of you have given this some thought. Maybe some of us have hesitated about selling our closets even though we have moved on to different styles or fashions and are only selling it since we don't know what to do with it.
Personally, I'd rather pass on my closet to my child, having high hopes that they will be into it, as I plan on switching to Aristocrat style (hopefully) once I become a parent or hit my 30s. If they aren't into it, I'd still rather see if I could pass it on maybe to a niece or nephew. I'd only really sell it if there was no way of me being able pass on or salvage any piece.
I love to hear your guys thoughts.
Also, I apologize if I tagged this incorrectly.
