A Request to remove the 75/25 Rule from EGL Comm Sales
Hello there! My name is Emily and I have a request to remove the 75/25 rule from the sales part of this community.
I believe that if an item works with Lolita, like many brands we love offer from jewelry to shoes, then it should be allowed to be sold on the sales.
I have a concern that many items that were being tried to sold where denied, due to the fact that it might be complicated at some times to differ what is only “Loliable” to what Is Lolita.
Say a brand/ Indie Brand/ or persons who make jewelry and such (But is very small like someone who only has the hobby to make Lolita accessories in their spare time) come out with a head bow with cute unicorns on it or a unicorn necklace. Hot topic or Claire’s has the same thing, albeit different, like how everything is. The Brand item/ indie item is allowed to sell, but the Claire’s/Hot topic one is only viewed as “Loliable” and isn't allowed to sell.
We shouldn't have to be limited on how our non brand items weighs in with our other items and would absolutely love to see many accessories and shoes coming from different places, and would expand our community a lot, bringing more sales and profit to the sellers!
One of the things I also would like to bring up-
Sometimes when we see an item and it is sold out it can be heart breaking, but we have the advantage of this community to go back and be able to purchase it, even for a lower price! The same thing happens when a Blog we adore like Parfait Doll, features non-brand clothing from Forever 21 like a heart sweater. While the photo enhancement and the fact that it is from our most beloved blogger helps, we see it and we really want it! It’s the same heart breaking feeling when it ends up being an item sold out or it is too expensive at the time and we cannot purchase it.
I want to be able to have the freedom to sell more clothing that works with Lolita to the community and, with the current spurge of Asian pop culture influence; it is starting to get easier to find cute clothing and accessories inspired by it.
I really believe this can enhance the community.
I often see many bloggers bringing up the fact that there is many choices outside of brand and I can believe that the more experienced of us know this too well and have gotten very handy with thrift shopping and knowing just what to look for when at a mall or other shopping centers. Persons who are new and want to test the waters can be able to find items they can work with and can bring a positive influence on what to look for and buy when it isn't brand.
There is a growing idea within the heart of Lolita that is a “whatever goes can work” and GLBs are featuring more items that work with Lolita rather being strictly Lolita, and most of us use off brand items from whatever shop we found to incorporate into very awesome and lovely outfits.
I really hope you take this into consideration when making your decision and I also hope that the other community members will discuss this too.
I bid you all a good day and those in the path of Sandy; I hope your power doesn't go out!
One thing I would like to mention though is I do understand the rule of 75/25. I kind of want to say that maybe we should be allowed to have more items filling the post that are Lolitable, being there no limit. I have a disability that makes it hard to express in words. The items above I would love to share with my friends because they are such great finds and would make a great addition to a coordinate . I'm not a mod but, I'm sure you mods can visualize what works with Lolita and are very able to sort through, plus you are very organized and tags make it easy to pick out what you want.
I try to express that I feel disheartened when I see a post featuring a bloggers favorite Loliable items and suggests how it can work with a cord, but I cannot sell it here even if I rocked the item with a Lolita coordinate and encourage it to be used for Lolita. And, even, when something was purchased and was made for Lolita, but it somehow looks like it wasn't or comes into questionable Lolita category.
A lot of Lolitas, especially the most experienced, buy off brand items and might feature the items to us with coordinates, posts, and tips. Some persons ask for off brand items be listed from where they originally came from instead of just saying "off brand".
Is there a way to be more open and feature more items from different established and non- established brands?
-Emily
