Hi everybody! I snuck some Lolita into my Steampunk!

Hi folks!
I haven't posted around these here parts for a loooonnnggg time. in a nutshell and w/out going into my life story (which if you've ever met me at an event or convention I'll happily go into, 'cause I'm a talker) I began to concentrate on my Steampunk quite heavily over the last few years. I became involved with the Steampunk performance group called The League of S.T.E.A.M.. Outside of our live events, Postcasts & convention appearances, we are mostly known for our webisode series "The Adventures of the League of S.T.E.A.M."

Even though I'm not nearly as active in the Lolita community either online or in person as I once was. I still love the fundamentals of the fashion, and do what I can to incorporate my older pieces into my current stemapunk style. I quite like the Steampunk Lolita look, and have a personal rule for buying any new lolita: if I can't put it into a steampunk outfit, I can't spend my monies on it.

While I was active the League during the filming of our 1st season, my schedule prevented me from being active in the production of the series. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE for season 2!

I would love to share with you guys how I put some Lolita into 2 or our episodes this season!

Bitter Gnomes and Gardens

this is my big episode this season. It is also one big Dr. Who homage, so don't Blink and miss the glaring/obvious references!

While my outfit brakes a lot of traditional Lolita rules (no blouse, exposed cleavage) I really like this outfit.

(please pardon the production photo)
Outfit rundown:
JSK- Custom order from the amazing Megan Maude
Corset- Custom corset by Exquisite Restraint
Headdress- Innocent World (one of my oldest most loved/worn headdress)
Boots- Metamorphose
Accessories - Alice & the Pirates, Taxidermy Her Bones
apron- found at thrift store YEARS ago

Musical Miscreants

This one I'm super proud of!!! I as soon as I heard we were going to cast a young girl (the daughter of the amazingly talented artist Brian kesinger) I informed everybody I would provide her costume. When we did a fitting for her and her father, I pulled out this dress and her eyes grew to the size of dishes. She LOVED the "princess dress" and all the little details I kept piling upon her.

Girl wearing btssb
outfit rundown:
Dress- Baby, the Stars Shine Bright (borrowed from my awesome roommate
lilusako I have the matching pink/black version, but we didn't want to dress the girl in any black. we discovered during the fitting it looks ADORABLE on her backwards... all the laceup detail added the visual interest we needed.
blouse- I found a child sized peter pan collared blouse at goodwill, and safty-pinned on my BTSSB detachable sleeves to make it even more frilly!
Headdress- Innocent world
her waist-sash is a gorgeous vintage pink ribbon I've been hoarding for years (inherited from my grandmothers sewing supplies), and I created the white lace jabot the day before the fitting (everything I had was either black or off white)
She is wearing not 1, not 2 but 3, count them 3 of my petticoats under that fluffy fluffy dress (being I'm plus size and she's 6 year old girl, there was a lot of safety-pinning and removable alterations.)

I hope you enjoyed my sneaking lolita into Steampunk!
