Our flutists who played during the waning daylight hours, and bless their hearts even while freezing their fingers off in the unseasonably cool weather that day. And our charming violaist who played for us while we processed about the lake with our lanterns in the dark.
All food was baked or created by the two of us, save for the mini quiches. The breakdown goes: egg salad criossants (with a touch of curry), cucumber & arugula sandwiches, spinach & strawberry salad with feta and raspberry vinegrette, chocolate dipped belgium waffles, variety of mini quiches, 4 layer red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, Victoria Sandwich variation with fresh raspberries and a mixture of butter, brown sugar cinnamon cooked apples, chocolate & vanilla checkerboard cake, three types of macarons (strawberry, lemon and 'bubblegum'), and pink lemonade for drinks.
Here's a photo of some of the foodstuffs:
It also happened to be someone's birthday so of course we like to make things a little more special, nicked the last strawberry macaron and lit a candle to begin the Happy Birthday song :) (of course with a bit of kurasune & rilly magic love added in)
We were lucky to have Jamie "Shutterbug" Coles there to take photos as well as kurasune's other half. Calli also had her s.o. taking photos as well (but I haven't seen those yet ;) hint hint). This one of kurasune turned out especially lovely (I love her cream Masquerade Theatre OP)
After much good food, the light quickly started to fade so we readied the girls for the obligitory group shot (and group ham shot of course). There were a surprisingly large number of us
And a few more random shots were taken...I quite liked this one of some of our newer members to the group (it was their first time to one of our events :) ) So cute!
And of course, once it got dark enough, the lanterns came out along with sparklers and glow wristbands. We headed first to set our little vellum paper boats with candles out onto the lake before the lantern procession. The boys helped us get everything out onto the water though there were a few capsized boat mishaps lol
Some forgot their lanterns but luckily we had spares so everyone was decked out with their own glowing lantern :)
And this is probably a more accurate look at what it was like while walking around with the lanterns XD
All in all much fun was had. We were sad that some had to leave a little early (annieduck I hope you got through all that homework >.<). The only wish I had was that it would have been a little warmer so we could see everyone's dresses in the photos rather than all our coats (though those were lovely as well). I hope everyone there enjoyed yourselves and I hope that those looking at this post has enjoyed the photos :)
If anyone has any questions about what we did, how we did it etc please feel free to poke at me XD
Now to just finish my b-day plans for this weekend (going for a french theme at a lovely teahouse)...so likely another post next week if all goes well :) - note to self...no more organizing ILD and birthday party...next year will be one or the other only XD
