Is there a way to make shoes whiter?

I have some Bodyline pleather shoes which were marked as "off-white" on the site, but in reality they're a dark cream colour that doesn't match anything. Is there a way to make them whiter, even pure white? That would be best, because I have mostly pure white socks.
