Total newbie and Wa-Lolita: Some questions and clarifications

Hello!

Even though I'm not a Lolita (yet) I really really admire Lolita fashion a lot and have wanted to try it for quite awhile.  After sewing a yukata for a friend of mine I decided to ramp it up a notch and try to do something that will use some of the skills obtained- a Wa-loli dress for myself. I was really excited to embark on this project, but then I started reading about Wa-loli on various blogs (instead of webpages) and how most people think it's really distasteful/awful/cosplay/ita/etc etc. so now I'm really worried but I've bought all my fabric (matte japanese embossed "chirimen")....

.... and a plain cream skirt (stock image below) & pannier (not shown) to wear underneath.

I cannot afford to buy obi silk or another obi (I have a yukata i bought in UNIQLO Japan/Tokyo) so I'm going to use interfacing on a complimenting fabric to mimic a folded bow (I can't stand slouchy soft bows on some of the wa-loli dresses I see)

I'll be referring to the look/feel of these dresses:

(without the bolero and skirt, but using better quality lace. A mix of eyelet and cluny laces in cream. Yes, F+F is a really sort of hit-miss-out the window sort of site for Lolita clothes)

(This is actually meant for a little girl, but I thought it was done very well (by Lacrima/Queenbee/Honeybee.)

I just want to find out more personal opinions on it before I set everything in stone. Maybe a balanced view on both what you like
and dislike? If you have strong opinions either direction, then I would really like to hear them too! If you have experience in sewing or actually had one commission, I would be honoured to see your photos!

Thank you~ Looking forward to hear from you!

PS. I'm not an otaku, but I am Asian so will this maybe work better for me? :P
PS ii : I can't load tags and add tags somehow, I apologize for the lack of them! Mods could you help me? >.<"

(Anyway, this is the fabric i used for my friend's yukata.)
