I ordered this dress through taobao:
URL of original dress: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=11020yxW.3-1_4Qw.h-QwriP&id=10031270374&
The picture shown there is a white x brown x pink color scheme, and I noticed that the colors offered are brown and blue, so I decided to go for the blue. I figured the brown would be replaced with the blue, but that was not quite the case.
The lace and bow are still brown, and I think the brown clashes with the navy. What do you think? And what can I do to fix this? I think even the top seems fine, but it's the bottom where the lace runs parallel to the edge of the dress / perpendicular to the ruffles that particularly bothers me.
I was thinking maybe I could get fabric dye markers and use black on them; that would work better with the navy at least. I would try navy or white, but since brown is darker than both those colors, it doesn't seem like an option. Ideas? Should I try to fix it, and if so, how? Or should I leave it as is?
Edit: I'm considering leaving the lace as is, and just accessorizing with more brown. I'm also thinking of switching the two bows. I might take up aznmoonchild's suggestion on steampunk-ifying the dress, so if you have any ideas/suggestions on that, let me know!
