Brand babydoll dresses?

I'm kind of curious about how an empire waisted dress made for a shorter girl would look on somebody a bit taller.  I doubt that a normal brand dress would look good on me, torso-wise (that's why I usually stick with skirts) but I'm wondering about dresses whose torsos end at the bust.  I'm pretty small-busted, so they would probably look okay in the chest.
I know that they'd fall a lot higher on my legs, because I'm a lot taller than average.  I'm fine with shorter dresses, but would they look okay with a shorter skirt, or would they just look disproportionate?
