Would a fabric like this be OK?

I posted this elsewhere but I figured this way would be extremely quick.

So I'm looking at making a Loli dress in maybe Mary Magdalene's general style. now, I have two options for fabric:
Either fabric which is a little more lustrous than this(it's 85% cotton sateen):

or this: Twelfth Night by Charles Parsons http://s656.photobucket.com/albums/uu283/controversialtopic/?action=view&current=IMG049-1.jpg&t=1334652770072

I already have the first one and if I wanted the second one I'll have to buy some. Money isn't TOO big a problem right now.

I'm kinda worried that the first fabric would be tacky if I used it but I wanted someone's opinion before I used it and started regretting it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D
