They're comfy, warm, cozy, easy to find in any store, come in an assortment of colors, easy on the wallet, wearable most of the year, and extremely forgiving in terms of size and stretch. Lately, I have been seeing a bunch of brand cutsews floating around the comm-sales that look just like a fairly common turtleneck in terms of basic construction, without a single bow or ribbon to their name and only bearing a tag or an embroidered 'B' or emblem to state what brand made them. Seeing these things blurs my lines a bit as to what I would consider loli.

Yes yes, I know the old adage 'Not everything brand makes is lolita', but I like clarification. I'm guilty of slapping non-brand turtlenecks under non-casual JSKs and calling it a day, dressing them up with jewelry or a pin-on bow, but I'm being tempted again by the rest of my non-loli wardrobe. Wear me agaaaiiiinnn~ A voice from my chest-of-drawers whisper, a siren to my cheapskate heart.
I own a few turtlenecks with big billowing sleeves or puffed shoulders, but how much further can I take it? What makes a turtleneck or a cutsew 'loliable' or not? I know the frills/ruffles/lace/peter-pan collars and whatnot, but beyond that, what else is there?
