I was feeling pretty confident until I noticed two girls (around age 9-10) sneaking around quite obviously trying to take a picture of me. I politely told them that 'if they wanted to take a picture, they could just ask', and they insisted they were just playing a game on their phone. Since they were just kids, I wasn't really bothered, until many more girls (teenagers and adults) were taking pictures of me and making fun of me with their friends. Later, a group of older guys followed me into the Sanrio store, and then all around the store, taking more pictures and acting generally skeezy. Naturally, I got out of there pretty quickly.
I really don't care what others think of my clothing choices, but this really frustrated me.Even if they only intended to laugh at me, I wouldn't have cared if they had just asked for my permission before taking the picture. Does wearing a frilly dress mean I should no longer be treated like any other human being? I knew I might attract more attention in lolita, but I didn't think I would be treated so disrespectfully by nearly everyone I came in contact with :I
Is it legal to take pictures of people in the U.S. in a public place without/against their permission?
Anybody have any tips on dealing with people like this?
I would really appreciate your help<3
