First Lolita dress ^_^

Hello all!

My name is Cicero and I do believe this is my first post here. I simply wanted something to contribute first before just writing to say hi!
I have been sewing for about ten years and I started with historic costuming back in the day. If you can make a Tudor dress, you can make anything.

So I used Simplicity's 4015 view C. This is a great pattern because it is ridiculously easy. At first glance most people are not impressed and I have to say I thought it needed some work. Fortunately not so much.

First off I have to say that this is an unfinished mock up that I did not add the lining to. There is no zipper (although there is room) it is closed in the back by pins. So the collar likes to slip off, and the red lines are from when I used sharpie to transfer the darts. Adding in the lining like it's supposed to have I'd wager would fix this. (and taking up the shoulders.) I also used old bedsheets for the fabric so that way I didn't ruin my pretty expensive cotton fabric.

Most people will need to add length to the skirt of the pattern. For me the original draft would have been plenty long only not so much when you add in the petti, so make adjustments. Personally I added five inches to the length, and did not hem. (It's a mockup see ^_^)

See what I mean with the collar? All in all not much needs to be done to this pattern for lolita and a few bows and ruffles in the pretty fashion fabric I have, I think this'll be cute as punch.

Anyways here is the petti in the case of your curiosity. I used Sugardale's petticoat tutorial, it took me five to six hours to make but I must say considering it only cost me 5 dollars to make? yeah I'll gather five yards of net ^_^. I'll link you to hers.

In the next weeks I'll post pictures of the Christmas Lolita and Coffee one that I have cut. In the meantime I'd love to hear some comments and questions ^_^.

(PS I don't know why they've rotated to the side but I can't figure how to fix them...)
