Now read on, but READ IT IN KELLY'S VOICE HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Anyway, I thought I'd be on topic for once and share my shoe collections. Whenever I go out I always try to find shoes that will fit the lolita aesthetic, and as a result, I've accumlated quite a few pairs of shoes that works both with lolita and non-lolita wear. Also since I have really big feet (US women's size 9-10 depending on how big/small the shoes run), pretty shoes are rather hard to find for me, so I'm really happy when I find a good pair!
First up, my oldest pair:
Brand: Unlisted (that's the name of the brand, lol)
Condition: I got these when I was...I want to say 14, 15? They're the first pair of shoes I ever wore with lolita! To give you an idea of what it looked like worn (and how old they are!) the right is a picture of me wearing them back in 2008 (I'm 18 in the photo). You can tell it's old because I'm wearing wa-lolita...which is like everyone's first lolita style, haha. I love these shoes, but the elastic on the strap is too worn out since they were too big on me when I was younger, so I need to get them repaired before I can wear them again! They're otherwise fairly comfortable to wear!
Brand: Liz Claiborne
Condition: These are so cute, but for the longest time I didn't wear them because 1) they're too big and falls off all the time and 2) they're mostly yellow/white, and I didn't have a lot of yellow dresses! I finally got heel backing though, so they stay on better now. Also I recently found a dress by Anne Taylor Loft that goes PERFECTLY with these, so I'm really happy and looking forward to wearing them more often :D Btw I got these at TJ Maxx for $5. SCORE.
Brand: Chinese Laundry
Condition: I really like these, since they're tartan (which not a lot of shoes are!) and they have really cute details. Only problem? THEY WON'T STAY ON MY FEET ARUGHGDAKLHG;DAKJ. Also the bottom had NO traction whatsoever, so the bottom got really worn out. I'm taking them to a cobbler to see if he can do anything to fix the bottom and help those shoes stay on!
Condition: These are my least-worn pair of shoes because when I first saw these, I was like "OOO PERFECT FOR SAILOR LOLITA!!" But I didn't acquire a navy blue sailor lolita dress until recently (pic above), so I haven't had the chance to wear these out, lol. Just from trying them on though, they're really comfy, thanks to the quilted inside. But I'm guessing I'll have trouble keeping these on my feet as I walk too, since they've got high wedges and there's nothing else to keep them on the feet.
Condition: These shoes are awesome! I love love love love them :D Too bad they have the same problems all pumps have: not the most comfortable shoes, and it gets a bit hard to balance in them at times! But they're still one of the sexiest pairs of shoes I have, haha. I don't do these shoes justice, really.
Brand: HOT TOPIC (The horrorz!!!!11!!1!)
Condition: Bought these off the sales comm, and honestly they're really comfy! These and the dollhouse pair are probably my favorite shoes. They fit me well, stay on really nicely, and just overall really pretty. I get compliments all the time when I wear these out. Only problem: THEY SCUFF SO EASILY, WTF. I once wore these while walking on CARPETED stairs in my house and they SCUFFED when I tripped on the CARPETED steps. I was like WTF?! Good thing the scuff was white, so I just put some black shoe polish over it, and now you can't tell unless I purposely photograph the scuffs, as I did above. Still, made me wtf really badily when I scuffed these, and now I'm extra careful with them.
Condition: I LOVE these boots! They're so gorgeous and make your legs look great and I just love the red! Only problem for me was that I should've bought these in size 10 instead. Size 9 is a bit rough on my feet, but I didn't want to get them in size 10 because I'm afraid then the calves would be too big, so I'm making do with the size 9.
These aren't really "unusual" or special, but I wanted to share these because I really like the brands. I'm not sure exactly how Pleaser is different from Funtasma, or if they're different at all instead of just different labels, but whoever makes these brands of shoes are probably the most consistent shoe makers I know. Their sizes are all true to size (ie size 10 will always fit the same, whereas some other shoes will sometimes fit bigger or smaller depending on the design)
Funtasma is also the brand of THESE AMAZING PIRATE BOOTS. I once owned those boots in pink. They made me feel awesome as hell, but I don't have pirate clothes (or even normal clothes worthy of them) so I sold them :c
Condition: I bought these used off ebay, and they're a pretty good deal. Not as good as the yellow Liz Claiborne shoes, but up there. These are really pretty and have the potential to be added as the third pair of my favorite shoes, but the problem with these is that they're REALLY uncomfortable. The heel height is not the problem here, but for whatever reason the balls of my feet hurt like a MOFO even with gel insoles in them. Plus they chaff my toes too! And the seller didn't mention that one of the heels on these shoes was chewed by some sort of animal, so I need to get these to the cobbler and have them repaired BAD. But yea, total fav-shoe potential.
Brand: Harajuku Lovers
Condition: These are the pink to the blue version Miscy got in her post. These are cute and I love the overall look of it, but they're a tad big, and they're really stiff, for whatever reason. O and IMO this pink is more vivid than the stock photos.
And last pair, I swear!!
Condition: These are also bought 2nd hand on ebay, and I love these but I'm really sad because THEY'RE TOO DAMNED SMALL ;-; They give the legs a really nice shape, and the cool frilly thing in the middle is detachable so you can wear these as simple strappy janes too, but like I said, these are too small for me. I have to squeeze my toes together to wear them! So watch for these on the sales coom, lol.
Final thought: A while back I made a few things using fleece, and then I realized that instead of buying gel inserts to make my shoes more comfortable, I could cut up the scraps of fleece I had left and make inserts out of them! So that's what I've been doing now, haha. Not only do they make the shoes more bearable, they also make your toes really nice and warm :D The only thing is that the fleece might flatten from being worn as inserts, but then you can just add more fleece to it and you'll have layers of fleece, which is actually better than just 1 layer of fluffy fleece or gel inserts!
That's it, you've made it to the end of my long-ass post! Good job!
