Dream of Lolita Milky Planet skirt review
Hi everyone! I've only seen a couple of reviews for DoL's Milky Planet knock-off, so I thought I would review the skirt that I purchased today. I purchased this at a local store in Toronto called Twylite, so I can't comment on DoL's production or shipping time, unfortunately!

The skirt is, overall, pretty nice. It's certainly not flawless but considering the price I'm happy with it - but you get what you pay for. I don't own the original Milky Planet, but several of my friends do so I've seen it in real life many times. The replica is a lot more vibrant than the original! The original is covered in cute glitter, but the replica doesn't have any. There is no AP lavender skirt, which is why I purchased this - I looove how the print looks on lavender but I don't like the cut of the special set JSK. So I'm happy to have a print I love in my favourite colourway in a style that looks good on me!
The fabric feels quite thin to me, compared to the AP dresses that I own and even compared to DoL's Sugary Carnival replica. It's not horrible but it's not amazing quality either. It wrinkles easily. Still, I prefer this thin fabric to some other cheap dresses I have - I have a Bodyline dress that's slightly stretchy...? (the cookie print dress, if anyone is wondering.) Haha, so while this fabric isn't perfect it's not the worst to me.
A few print close-ups:

A weird dark spot under one of the rainbows.

The biggest print flaw... the roof of the house isn't filled in. There are a few others spots where this occurs (some of the spoons) but this is the most noticeable. On this colourway and the yellow which I also saw at the store, I don't think it's too bad - but it looks pretty bad on the black colourway, enough that I wouldn't purchase the black version. Also, the house says "Angelic Preety" lol.

The scallops are mostly even. They're not perfect but they look fine to my eye. The weirdest thing about them is that they're lined with printed fabric instead of white, which shows at the edges a little bit. I forgot to take a picture of the underside of the scallops to illustrate this but you can kind of see it here.

The wonkiest scallop... noticeably smaller than the rest. The stiching on the hem line above the scallops is also pretty noticeable.

The lace is... okay? Haha I know it's supposed to be ice creams but it just doesn't look like ice cream to me. It looks like... some kind of little fluffy animal or something LOL. It's not gathered like lace is on AP dresses. Other than that, it's soft and lovely! Not scratchy or plasticly at all.

The waist ties are detachable (yay) and attach with a plain button - definitely not as cute as the pretty buttons that AP uses! The ends are cute, and the length is the same as AP waist ties. They're lined with white fabric.

Because of the thin fabric, the waist bow was pretty sad and droopy... once I ironed it and starched it to all hell it looked a lot better! The lace on the edges is nice and soft. I'm not a fan of waist bows so I'm going to take it apart and make it into a barrette, but it's definitely a lot nicer than the pathetic waist bows that were on the Sugary Carnival replicas.

Standard built in petti and lining.

I forgot to take a good picture of me wearing it, but here's a crappy webcam shot! It's pretty long. It's the longest sweet skirt that I own... it's about two inches above my knees (I know the photo angle makes it look knee length, oops). I'm 5'7 and most of my height is in my legs, most skirts are crazy short on me... I'm sooo happy with the length but shorter girls might have problems!
Overall the skirt is pretty good considering the price. The thin fabric and few print errors are unfortunate, but the flaws aren't too noticeable to me. I really like how vibrant the print is compared to the AP version and I'm so happy that it's actually a decent length for me!! And of course, this is the only way one can get a lavender Milky Planet skirt, so I'm really happy with it. Despite the flaws, I think the skirt was well worth it!
I hope this was helpful! This was my first review, so I hope I highlighted all of the important points. I'm going to try to get together with my friends who own the real Milky Planet soon... if no one takes comparison pictures before then, I'll definitely post some so people can see the differences in print saturation etc.
Thanks for reading!! ♡
