Hello everyone! I've been busy with art and sewing commissions but I took some time on the side to work on a couple limited edition art prints! This is the first in a series I will be doing, the Sweet Lolita! I was very pleased with how they came out, so I thought I'd share them with you ^^
My boyfriend got an assignment at his school to create an original paper doll cut out, so I thought it would be so cute to make Lolita themed paper doll art! I decided to start with Sweet Lolita and designed the doll and 3 outfits. They are not fully functional paper dolls.. just meant to look pretty.
The first of two drawings was the doll herself, and one outfit. The outfit was candy inspired, it has a candy headdress, pearls like sprinkles, and candy brooches on the bodice.
For the second outfit, I did a baking dress with an Angelic Pretty inspired apron and strawberry cake print. I wasn't sure how the print was turning out at first, but I am rather happy with it in the end! I thought it would be cute to do a coat for the third outfit, and its a hodge podge of bows and fur trim! It also shows my obsession with cats as she has a cat purse, muffler and kitty ear muffs.
I had a really hard time finding paper for the prints. I wanted something similar to Imai Kira's original postcards that have a slight opalescence to them. I ended up going to Office Max and found the perfect glitter metallic paper for my prints! I was so happy, and they printed it out perfectly. The colors matched my files exactly! The paper is perfect weight and glitters in the light.
Thank you for looking everyone.. And thanks for everybody's help with my earlier post about printing and the room snaps! I am glad I was finally able to make some prints I feel are special and I hope you like them!
