Ice Skating at The Pond at Bryant Park

Photobucket

I passed by Bryant Park recently and noticed the ice skating rink is being set up even earlier than usual (thanks to Fashion Week being moved to Lincoln Center). And since some of you know my love for ice skating, I thought it would be a great idea to have an ice skating meet-up.

It will be the 2nd weekend of November (11/13, 11/14). Right now I’m scheduling it for Saturday 11/13.

We are going to meet at 11AM in front of the steps of Bryant Park facing Kinokuniya (on 6th Avenue between 41st and 42nd St). Once everyone is there, those who want to ice skate will go in line and those who want to watch and explore the Holiday shops (they will be open).

NOTE: I would let you know that a few Lolitas I know, as well as myself know how to ice skate pretty well. So if you don’t know how to ice skate don’t worry, there’ll be people if you need to hold someone’s hand on the ice.

Depending on when everyone is tired out, we can explore the shops or eat a light lunch. There are tons of food and shops vendors during the Holidays so I would take advantage of this! (There’s hot chocolate, apple cider, waffles, crepes, takoyaki, and kettle corn!) As well as if you want to start on your Xmas/Hanukkah gifts early.

At 2PM : We'll head to Schippner's Quality Kitchen for a late lunch.

The meet technically ends after lunch. But we can check out the street fair that's on 45th from 5th-7th Ave. Or go see a movie (not Paranormal Activity please).

RECAP:
When: Saturday November 13th
11AM - 4PM
Where: Bryant Park, The Pond (at the steps facing Kinokuniya)
Cost: Admission: FREE
Skate Rental: $13
Locks: $9
Small Bag Check: $7
Large Bag Check: $10
(NOTE: Lockers are small, enough for shoes and bag, and if you have a big bag I recommend pairing with a bunch of people to check bags. They will be stuffed in a laundry mesh bag to give an idea of size on how much to check.

What to bring:
Ice skates (if you have them)
Thick socks (if your ice skating, I strongly recommend these or bring a second pair to put over your tights. Your skates need to be tight, so having that extra layer helps, especially if you are wearing rentals)
$6-8 for MetroCard
$10-20 for petty cash (i.e. shopping, snacks. OPTIONAL)
$10 for lunch
