Bodyline Shoe Review

I bought two pairs of shoes during the "50% off sale," and I thought that a review (with plenty of pictures!) would be helpful for anyone else considering these shoes. :D

I bought two pairs -- shoes148 and shoes119, both in size 23.

I will cover shoes119, the red ones, first.

My expectations were'nt super super high, since they are Bodyline, but they turned out to be really nice. The materials seem sturdy, there are no glaring imperfections (only one minor one), and are overall much higher quality than expected. I don't own any other specifically "lolita" shoes (only offbrand ones) that I can compare the quality to, but they seem to be pretty high quality for the cost (if you don't factor in the DHL shipping).
My foot measures 23cm exactly and I normally wear a 6 or 6.5 American, so I ordered a 23, and these are a tad bit loose on the left foot, but they leave room for socks and insoles. On the right foot, my toes hit the front of them. My right foot is smaller than my left foot, so I have no idea what is up with their sizing.
They actually look much nicer than they do on the website, since they look a bit wonky on there, but my only complaint is that the heel shape looks a little awkward. I'm used to stiletto-type heels or square chunky heels, and these taper oddly, but it looks fine. The red is a little bright (I only have Baby's red to compare it to, and it's much brighter than that), more like a cherry red.

I'm also having a hard time getting the shoe clips on them, but that's probably just me. XD;;

Pros:
- Overall high quality and nice materials for the price
-  Removeable shoe clip so the decoration can be moved or left off entirely
- Buckles snap instead of unbuckle
- Ankle strap can be removed and replaced with ribbon to lace o your legs, for variety

Cons:
- Sizing off -- loose on my larger foot, my toes hit the front on my smaller foot
- Very slight imperfection on the inside
- Odd-looking heels

Clip. You can slightly see the wire inside of it, but this isn't noticeable when worn (not that onyone will be looking that closely!)

Loose insole. If I press on it with my finger, I can tell that it is hardly glued down there at all.

Verdict: 8/10. The sizing is a little off, but other than that, they are very nice. :D I highly recommend them.

Now onto shoes148, the pink ones:

These are very nice, as well. Sturdy materials, no glaring imperfections (again, only a couple of minor ones), and overally high quality for the price. The heels are much higher than I expected, which I am very happy about, and they have a slight bubble-toed look. The front at the toe area also curves upwards slightly, which is very cute. The bow is securely glued on and the "pleats" are generally uniform, though there are a few extra air bubbles.
They are very slightly tight, but not uncomfortably so. I have a feeling that they will loosen up once I wear them a bit. They are also very comfortable for the height, and will be more comfortable once I wear them, I'm sure.
Now, my main complaint and about the only real problem with these shoes: the buckles. The two ankle straps have snaps on them for easy removal, but the strap across the foot does not, meaning that I either have to undo the impossible buckle every time I want to wear them (which would damage the straps terribly after only a few times -- the edges are already starting to come apart a bit) or slip my foot into them, which is difficult and I'm afraid will damage the shoe after some time. The ankle straps are too small for my ankles, so I will need to spend a considerable amount of time loosening them (I already spent about 10 minutes each on the two foot straps). This is the biggest drawback of these shoes. If you have ankles larger than sticks, be prepared to spend some time loosening the straps before they are wearable (and believe me, I don't have particularly thick ankles!)
Besides the slight air bubbling in the toe area of the shoe, there are two marks on the inside of one of the pairs, and when I ran my hand over them, I realized that they were score marks. I have had odder and worse imperfections in much more expensive shoes before, and I doubt that it will be of any harm, but I thought it was worth noting.
Also, I don't own any brand pieces in pink to compare them t, so sorry about that. They are a more muted pink, though, not a bright pink at all.

Pros:
- High quality
- Very cute design :D
- Comfortable high heels
- Ankle straps snap instead of buckle
- Ankle straps can be criscrossed for a different look
- Near-perfect sizing

Cons:
- Heart-shaped buckles are a pain!
- Foot strap lacks a snap
- Few slight imperfections

Those two thin black lines are the score marks. Sorry that the pic is so blurry.

Snaps/lack of

The front toe section that comes up a bit -- I thought that a visual might help.

Verdict: 7/10. I love these shoes (I like them better than the other ones), but the buckles are really a pain. :<

As a bonus -- false eyelashes!

I have God's own eyelash adhesive. This stuff looks sketchy, so I'll use my own, but it's worth at least a giggle. (The tubes feel empty, anyway.)

Another thing worth noting is that all my items smell heavily of cedar. I'm not quite sure why, but they do. It's better than a chemical smell, at least.

I had no problems with DHL, either, but I'm afraid that I will get hit with customs charges a month or two down the line. My items were shipped out late since I bought them during the "50% off sale" and Bodyline was very busy, and they could have said that they were shipping late without me panicking and sending them an email, but it's fine. I would have gotten them yesterday, but it was a holiday, so I got them a week after I ordered, which isn't too bad.
Actually, DHL broke my doorbell, but that's not their fault, since it was a very old doorbell. XD

EDIT 12/1/09
A couple of things I have noticed now that I have had these for a few months.

First is that they scuff very easily. The red ones tend to be better than the pink ones for this, but maybe it is because I tend to wear the pink ones more. (They are also made of different materials, which can account for the difference.)

Second is that I have already had my pink ones repaired once and then they broke again in the exact same spot. I don't know if my foot is too tall for them or something (I have high arches), but the strap across the top of the foot has pulled out twice now while I was taking the shoes off. I'm not pulling the shoe downward and putting extra strain on that strap while removing the shoes, but the strap has pulled out from between the sole and the part where your foot touches TWICE and it while the repair is cheap, it's getting to be quite a pain. I'm going to ask my shoe repair shop if they have snaps that can be used so that strap has no extra strain on it while putting on/taking off the shoe. If not... I'm not sure what to do.

I hope this helps someone~!
