I was looking for a great OP to wear to the up coming Anime Expo in The LA convention center this July.
I thought of getting something from the taobao sites, since I've been short on cash these past few months, or just make something. Luckily, while browsing qcute I found THE PERFECT DRESS. I totally drooled over it, and everyone encouraged me to get it (they always to T_T)
Anyhoo, here is the stock photo.
Wouldn't you drool over this as well?
So I decided to get it. I was getting used to the idea of chiffon, after all, Angelic Pretty have been going crazy with chiffon lately, so I gave it a shot.
Communication: 5/5 I had a wonderful time communicating with qcute they were very responsive and very polite. Generally you would recieve a message/e-mail from them withing a day or maybe even sooner. Trust me there was a lot of talking because I didn't use paypal. There was also a problem because I did use Western Union and I accidentally spelled the name wrong. It was fixed and things went smoothly though. Overall the communication is quick and their English is wonderful :D
Also It seems like they have great contact with Dear Celine, because I thought this dress was sold out and they got notice quickly that they were getting a new batch of all sizes. I also gave them my measurements and even asked for size M but they even suggested for me to switch to L. I was slightly skeptical, but I assumed that they knew what they were doing. They were right in the end :)
Shipping Time: 5/5 Although I expected the dress to be made within 20 days (as mentioned on the Qcute site), it came very quickly than expected. Apparently, the dress was ready the next week and I just had to wait for the dress to reach me from Dear Celine-> Qcute-> Me.
Also about shipping, you pay everything including shipping, so they pretty much invoice you once, or give you an overall total (convenient, right). Obviously overseas shipping takes about a week or two so that was logical. In addition, tracking was included so I was able to track it. It did take a bit longer because there was a holiday so my package did get stuck at customs for an extra few days, but generally it shouldn't do that :)
Packaging: 4/5 Packaging, was okay, I think it's just me personally being picky and such. Many people who do these service or send things do something personal, but when I got my package, it was just the dress. I wish there was some sort of note or something lol. I don't mind for the most part but for most people I'm sure you'd put 5/5 lol.
This is the packaging it came in. It was rather large, so it was fine. inside of that you can see the clear plastic the dress came in. There is no bubble wrap or anything, but this dress had not tulle or anything so for me, that made sense that it came in this packaging. No, the package was not harmed. There was writing on the back that did say "handle with care" so I guess the mail delivery people took that to heart <3
Workmanship: 5/5 Wonderful! The details of the dress is just beautiful. You really get what you paid for.
Front and back pictures <333
My mom was a bit skeptical because it looked so squared when the dress was laid on the bed or hung on the hanger, but once worn you can see it looks quite form fitting <3
Details of the buttons. They are quit gorgeous and sewn in really well. The bow below is actually a pin. So It's detachable <3
There is some lining on the bust area, but there is no lining on the skirt portion where it begins to flare out. It sorta makes sense later, but everything is well sewn and very comfortable.
See there is no lining under all that ruffle xP
Their logo. See I got a size L
It fit me perfectly actually :) It's quite comfortable with a bra as well :)
Waist ties, but no shirring on the back.
There are also two clear plastic buttons because this dress is a 2-way dress :) The picture on the right has these little loop things for the buttons to lift the skirt up to give it this bustle look :)
On the left pic, I lifted and buttoned the skirt part. The tulle under is from my dying bodyline petticoat.
I'm gonna buy a new one this weekend downtown.
On the right pic, is the detail of the zipper. It's well sewn onto the garmet. I love it, zipping isn't that hard :)
Materials: 4/5 I'd have to admit, that the material is a bit shinny, but it's nothing for anyone to be worried about. I personally love it and I would totally wear it for non lolita purposes.
Also, the color of the stock photo is a bit more pink than purple-lilac. It's still beautiful and subtle. You can sorta see how the shinny cotton fabric is not really a big deal. It's not even THAT shinny to whine about. So I can say confidently that the quality is pretty good, it's not Japanese Brand Quality, but it's pretty good! The ribbon isn't shinny at all so it's quite subtle and sweet <3
Overall: 5/5 I can say with confidence, that I am very pleased with what I purchased and everything that went in the process. qcute is a very trust worthy service to purchase from. I highly recommend them :)
HERE ARE SOME EXTRA PICTURES OF ME WEARI
I WORE IT TO SCHOOL (since I only had one final today I had time to dress up <3). I even had people coming up to me asking about my dress <3 I got lots of compliments :)
Although someone did say it' was somewhat like little bo beep O.o, but i'm sure many of you get that as well ...
This is what the dress looks like when it's down.
this is basically how i went to school. Need new white shoes that are NOT boots >.< (I want to mod some so that's another reason for going downtown LA <3)
Front and back with the skirt lifted. I remember someone who purchased this skirt just wore it with her petti under. I guess it was nice and lacy or something, so I'm sure it looked adorable on her. My petti is plain so hopefully I might get lucky and find a nice petti to wear under or just made a nice layered under skirt...
Oh I just wanted to add, that I'm not wearing socks in these three photos because I just thew everything back on after I took detailed photos. Sorry finals is totally making me a bit empty minded XP
Anyhoo, that's my review.
