Damsel and Mermaid Lolita

Okay, so a few days ago I got some inspiration while preparing for the Renaissance Festival (it was awesome!) for some different Lolita… not “styles”, I guess, but “looks”. I thought I’d share and see if anyone has any thoughts, ideas, comments, criticism, etc. for these. I don’t have any specific clothing ideas, but I thought it might be fun to try to design some of these. So, without further ado…

Damsel Lolita: as in “damsel in distress.” This would have more influences from medieval/renaissance eras. Clothing would be slightly ripped/bedraggled to have an “escaping through the woods” sort of look. Make-up would be simple with little or no eyeliner and just slightly shiny lips. Hair should be simple and feasibly able to have come out of bed like that, without being a “bed head” look. Braids, tied back with a single ribbon, long and loose, etc. would all be very good. Jewelry would have a magical or royal feel, but Classic and Gothic jewelry would also suit. Motifs such as keys, crowns, and crosses would be suiting, and amulets would be quite appropriate. Shoes should not be heels, but slipper or ballet style. Certain boots (not the goth type, but more of the deerskin look) would also look nice in certain circumstances. Clothes would be best with layers, ruffles, and sheer materials. Shiro, kuro, and hime would be best styles for this. Shiro and hime would have a runaway princess aesthetic to them, while kuro would have more of a witch-hunt atmosphere.

Mermaid Lolita:  less ideas for this. Would use bright blue, green, turquoise, and jewel colors. Shoulders would be barer, maybe off-the-shoulder sleeves; this could be done to have more of an ero look, or the skirts could be lengthened to balance out the skin. Longer, straighter hair would suit it well, worn with veils or tiaras. Metal jewelry would suit this best, along with more exotic flowers, as well as colorful beads and, of course, pearls. Fishnet stockings might add to the theme more. Skirts would be less poofy than average and sea motifs such as shells, starfish, and seahorses would be useful. Clothing could have strips hanging from it to add to a seaweed/saltwater decay look. Makeup should have little blush but dramatic eyes and lips.

Please let me know any thoughts you have on these! Constructive criticism especially appreciated.
