Crescent Shop Auction Review

I thought I shall be helpful to the community and submit a shopping service review! This was my first ever use of a shopping service, which I found really scary to be honest. XD I haven't done a review for this sort of thing before so hopefully I will be helpful.

The dress I wanted was on Y!JA but needed a shopping service. I picked crescent shop (they only do Y!JA) because once you sign up (and you can use your user straight away, for example I had to wait abit with Rinkya to respond in email), you log in and go onto the auction search and submit the URL or search by word or category. You can view the page and translate (which isn't perfect but its google). After putting in a deposit (which is refundable, and can be from 50$ to a larger amount for more bidding power), I put in my maximum bid. You can pay money on crescent shop either using a credit card or paypal. I can't comment on responding time from the item being bidded by another user because in the end my first bid won. XD

It takes a day or two for it to update saying you've won the auction. I didn't realise you could pay straight away but you have to click the item for more details which I did a few days later. You have 7 days to pay or new orders will be blocked, and there's a penalty after 14 days. At this point the payment for me included the amount of the winning bid (8900 yen) wire bank transfer fee (250 yen) and domestic shipping (1000 yen) and a 12.5% service fee (1112 yen). After paying this you can have your deposit refunded.

After the item has arrived, you can decide to have it shipped out or get other items and have them shipped together to save on shipping costs. I think there was a certain amount of days that they can keep the items but I think it was around a month I can't find the information for it. I decided not to because the big problem with crescent shop for me is that they will not mark down the price or mark it as a gift on the customs declaration form, so I wanted to not get charged more.

I decided to ship it out as EMS (3250 yen). A couple of days later they confirmed they shipped it and also gave me a tracking number (which I found out customs were charging me money). Five days later it arrived in the local parcelforce worldwide depot. I got charged VAT (£12.99) and their handling fees (£13.50) (the handling fees really pee me off cause its probably the biggest rip off ever and they charge more if you've chosen EMS). I collected the item today five days later as I read horror stories the other day of how bad they are delivering to some people so I was like O_O;.

The packaging was very good. Nice sturdy box that wasn't bashed in and that was taped good and securely. The item was wrapped inside a seethrough plastic bag with bubble wrap around it taped well. Item wasn't damaged at all. (Aren't great photos I've submitted here, didn't get a chance to get photos of dress in the extra wrapping).

Overall, I give crescent shop 5/5 for ease of use and communication (although I never emailed them so I don't know how good they are with replying back), 4/5 for fees (I would love it if they would mark down the price for you).

From my personal experience, I probably will use a shopping service that will mark down the price of the custom form, as I think UK customs are pretty bad. I would have preferred it if it was sent personally to my house instead of parcelforce worldwide taking it to charge me more money, but I don't know if this happens with all international orders or orders sent with EMS. >_< Apart from this, I really really love my item. :DDD

If there's any errors with my review, please let me know. ^^

p.s Can anyone give me a tutorial on tying waist ties into a bow? My mum isn't too good with the sweet rococo ones because with one of the steps she can't tell very well what to do. XD
