EDIT: im pretty live journal retarded.. i have no idea why there are three cuts but its probably a good idea to click the first one. lol. :D
so ive been feeling a little creative lately and ive made two things which im particularly proud of. im in the middle of making a poodle dress too but im having visitors so thats going to be a little delayed so i will share that at a later date.
i made this last weekend out of some cupcake fabric i bought from spotlight. i really wanted to make it in pink but there was only mint and purple left and the mint really caught my eye. though im hoping next time i go back they will still have purple left. i might even see if they can order in pink for me. i was wondering what the interest would be in cupcake skirts? whether people would be interested in buying them or not and how much people would be willing to pay? the fabric costs about $10 a mtr and i use about 2 mtrs a skirt. i usually buy 3 just incase. then there is the cost of ribbon, thread, zips and labour. i wouldnt be taking commissions at the moment because i have school work to do but later on i think i would be able to whip up a few for sale. would people be willing to pay extra for zips or would you be happy buying one with an elastic waistband if it saved you $10
anyways onto the skirt. i also made a matching one for my 3 year old niece. it was very cute. i went to her house wearing my skirt and asked her if she liked it and she said she did and it was very pretty and i pulled a miniture one out of my bag for her and she was so excited had to put it on straight away. it was totally adorable.
this is my skirt as it is.
and this is the one i made for my niece. its not as nice as mine and it only took me a little bit of time but a three year old is no critic and she was just as happy as if it had of been an exact replica.
and here is a detail picture of the little bows on my skirt.
and this dress here is the light of my life so far. im so happy with how this turned out. the colours werent quiet what i wanted i would have prefered a pastel pink but i think the dress turned out really nice regardless of the colour. i made this at the end of last year for my dressmaking certificates. the pattern was made my me then it was fitted onto my best friend which took a ridiculous amount of fiddling and re drafting but eventually i got it right and i think its worked out really well.
back of dress
i wouldnt be interested in selling dresses. waaaaay too much time and energy and i doubt i could get enough money back to make it worth wild. this particular dress was very expensive to make. i still have a bit of fabric left im going to make a skirt out of but it cost me about $300 just for supplies to make it T_T
any comments or critique would be appreciated. :)
