I'm the most depressed I've been in a looooooong time...
Why? My story is one straight out of a lolita's nightmare!!!! I'll try to make my story short.
I had spent MONTHS scrimping, saving, doing odd jobs, sewing, borrowing, and buying until, at last!!! I had made myself my first lolita outfit.
I had made a pink gingham candy skirt, similar to the AP candy dress, and had a white blouse with a pink bolero. I bought the perfect white lace socks after searching FOREVER, and had bought the last pair of pink babydoll Easter shoes from a local store along with a self-made pink headbow.
SO, picture it... my first outfit!! Maybe a little amatuar, as far as sewing goes, but I was ecstatic!! I looked AWESOME!!! If I do say so myself.
After school today, I put it all on to go out with a couple friends. My school is right near the mall, so I can walk across a couple streets to meet them there so we can all go out to a local cafe.
Right before I get to the mall, I have to cross a Lowe's parking lot. As I'm going, I listening to some music on my iPod.
And out of nowhere, comes a WALL OF BLACK PAINT.
I scream, scared out of my wits at the incident, then watch a car full of laughing teenage idiots drive off, a paint bucket still held out the window.
BLACK. PAINT. ALL. OVER. MY. OUTFIT.
And as I forgot my cell phone at my house, I walked into Lowe's where a nice lady offered me a phone to call my mother.
I'm broke, humiliated, and out of lolita now.
That's why I have to give up lolita all together, as much as I don't want to... I'm just so discouraged...
I mean, all that work...
Everything is pretty much ruined.
Well, just curiously, if something like this happened to you, would you give up lolita?
EDIT: as a follow-up....
Thank you all for your support and encouragement.
I did end up filing a police report [on the grounds of assault], calling a friend, and finding out that the paint thing has happened a couple other times in my town just recently.
Anyhow, I might just continue lolita, but I think it might be a while until I can really get the nerve to save and wear in public again.
