I didn't want to do what everyone does and use plaid to make it punk and I have been very interested in steampunk, so I'm letting how I trim things do do the punking up while I make my print more elegant. I'm using this print in place of where I would have put a plaid. I came up with this, which was inspired by an outfit of Kana's and a little h.NAOTO.
Note: My boots are pretty much these with a slightly larger sole and one less buckle.
Edit: I've decided to replace the ivory white with this color.
Now I just would like to know if it works. I want to trim it with lace at the edges of the sleeves and around the tie. I'm not sure about the edges of the skirt. Maybe strips of lace at odd angles? I'm not sure. Should I make the cuffs of the pants/bloomers out of the print?
I'm also not sure what my hair will look like. Most likely, it will be in long, thin red, burgundy, golden blond, and blackish-brown dreads. Which brings me to another question: will I still be able to pull off kodona with dreads? I have no clue what to do with them. Pull them back into a low, loose ponytail? Perhaps a black top hat (mini or regular sized is way up in the air) with some gears and the print as a band around it and some goggles to bring back the steampunk influence?
I'm really just tossing out ideas as they pop up, so I'm sorry if this is a bit disjointed. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I'd also like to know if there are any lolita events happening at Katsucon this year. I really have been wanting to attend an event, but never had an outfit that I liked enough to wear. Thanks again!
