With old-school lolita day coming up on March 8th (mark your calendars, ladies and gents!), what better time to celebrate our lolita heritage? Reminisce about your starting days in lolita, complain about the lack of raschel lace in today's outfits, long for the days where every lolita rode in on a pair of rocking-horse shoes.... It's all fair game! If you don't want to make a post of your own lamenting the death of the maxipad headdress (and you really should want to), feel free to discuss the pros- and cons- of our frilly sisters on our monthly theme post

I have been dressing in Lolita for the past five years now and I dabble here and there in different styles. My wardobe is quite small, but I hope to get a couple more dresses to add in my closet this year. I hope you enjoy my first wardrobe post!( Here we go...Collapse )

Hello. I have an AATP witch hat from the Merry Making in Ghost Town series, and while it was packaged in a nice big box with lots of bubble plastic and wrapped nicely in tissue paper and all that, the shipping company basically destroyed the box, and the hat was squished in transit. The once very large and sturdy square box arrived flattened.
There are multiple creases in both the cone of the hat, and especially deep ones around the brim to the point that it no longer holds its shape — it just flops down like a hood and looks awful. It's just not wearable in its current state.
I don't care about filing a claim because it isn't about the cost or the order itself. What I want is the darn hat, and they're sold out so there's no hope of a replacement. Is there any way I can repair it, or get the creases out?
If I run my hand along the fabric I can feel that the stiff pieces inside are folded, and so far, no amount of tinkering with it or trying to adjust it with my hands has been able to return it to its original shape. It looks so sad, and I'm very sad about it.
Bonus question: I also have a bonnet with a crease in it that's been sitting in my drawer. Is there a way to get creases out of those, too? It stands up well, but theres a visible line down the side of it where it had been accidentally folded, and it's slightly misshapen because of it.
My friends and I are going into vending at conventions and need some opinions. We are planning on having mini top hats as one of the main things we sell. We were wondering what sort of attachment you like best for small hats. Do you guys like to wear them with clips, ribbons, headbands or some other sort of attachment? I personally like clips to hold mine on but that might just be me. Thank you in advance.
Sorry if this is tagged wrong.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
For the last few weeks I've been searching high and low for accessories to a few of my wardrobe pieces. I cant seem to find any kind of master list of brand print and non-print accessories, Lolibrary and HelloLace have quite a few, but I cant find what I'm looking for.
Do brands ever release a print and only in an OP or JSK in that print? No headbow, no bonnet, no maxipad, no socks, no jewelry? No accessories at all? I'm sure older brand stuff was released without accessories, especially the solid color stuff.
Questions I pose...
Is there a master list of brand print accessories?

One JSK in particular, I'm looking for a headpiece for a BLACK Paris Windows JSK, preferably a headbow or bonnet. Does it exist or am I wasting my time?
Hello! I've been making jewelry of all types for many years now and I was wondering if it could apply to the lolita fashion? Most lolita jewelry I've seen are made of plastic. And while they are certainly cute and I love looking at them, they are not really for me. I'm more of a classic elegance type, old school perhaps? I'm not sure how to put it. I also love metals and intrinsic details.
I've been told that what I make can be part of lolita fashion, but I'd like to ask a larger community's opinion in general. In the photo above, I've collage some of my composite style pieces for your consideration, I like to call my line of composite pieces My Metal Garden, they are mostly barrettes, hair clips, and rings though I have made chokers in the past as well.
Thank you for your thoughts! ^_^
Hi lolitas ^^
Just a quick question.
I recently bought an AP barrette (polkadot chocolate to be exact) and am finding it difficult to clip on the top of my head so it'd be in a similar position to what a headbow on a headband would be. I try to slide it under as much hair I can, but it just ends up slipping off if I move. It doesn't help that I have quite fine hair.
Has anyone got any tips for wearing barettes in this style? Is there a good way to attach it to a headband or something that will hold it there? Are there other nice ways you can wear a barette? So far I've only been able to wear it on the back of my head clipped around a decent amount of hair.
Thanks a lot! <3
Hi all. I just recently got a JSK that didn't come with a matching headbow and I can't seem to find any matching headpieces to such an obscure colour. So I was wondering, what do you ladies usually wear on your head if you are put in a situation like this?
Do you think a headbow that matches a colour of one of the item on the print (e.g blue headbow to match the blue jelly on a lavender AP Jewelry Jelly jsk, pink headbow to match pink teaparties on a lavender jsk) would be a yay or a nay?
Will a headbow from a different print match or clash with your outfit?
If I'm going OTT Sweet, can I have a myriad of colours (i.e pinks, blues, yellows) on my hair to match the colours of the print?
Photos as references would be appreciated!
I'm looking for a somewhat specific type of hat, one made of felt with a flat brim or one that curves up at the rim.
Like this hat from Innocent World from 2007.
Like that, or maybe not quite so tall. I think that same year Metamorphose made a similar hat but called it a boater hat. It was really tall and awkward. I think that calling it a boater hat may have been a misnomer, because I've looked several times and have not found boater hats made of anything besides straw.
If anyone knows a good place to buy a hat like that, please let me know. I'm especially looking for burgundy. Just what that style is a great help, too. (I don't really want to buy anything from taobao right now, though.)
Edit: Here's another hat I like.
Too bad Innocent World doesn't have any right now, but they were pretty expensive.
They don't have to be decorated at all. I can add a ribbon or bow or corsage.
