I recently made an order on the Angelic Pretty English website, ordering a necklace and Dream Sky Tights. However, they ended up sending me Musee du Chocolat tights instead! The website says replies take 1-2 weeks. What the heck? That is ridiculous!
I’ve actually heard from other lolitas that Angelic Pretty is notorious for screwing up orders, and then making the customer pay for return shipping. Ugh, I really expect more from such a well-known brand. This is my first order from them, and probably my last. I’ll be just buying from the USA store from now on...
Has anyone else had issues with Angelic Pretty like this? Any suggestions on how to solve this situation?
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
For the last few weeks I've been searching high and low for accessories to a few of my wardrobe pieces. I cant seem to find any kind of master list of brand print and non-print accessories, Lolibrary and HelloLace have quite a few, but I cant find what I'm looking for.
Do brands ever release a print and only in an OP or JSK in that print? No headbow, no bonnet, no maxipad, no socks, no jewelry? No accessories at all? I'm sure older brand stuff was released without accessories, especially the solid color stuff.
Questions I pose...
Is there a master list of brand print accessories?
Do brands release a print and only in an OP or JSK in that print with no accessories?
One JSK in particular, I'm looking for a headpiece for a BLACK Paris Windows JSK, preferably a headbow or bonnet. Does it exist or am I wasting my time?
There are a lot of talented Lolita seamstresses out there, starting their own brands and coming up with new ideas. But one thing that I love about Lolita is how unique and personalizable it is for the individual! I love to design and sew and dress up in Lolita, but it got me to thinking: there are a lot of great designers/owners of brands out there. What there isn't a lot of is seamstresses who work with Lolitas to design clothing together. Besides Sweet Rococo and individual, local seamstresses, it seems that - unless you have the time, skill and equipment - Lolitas don't have much of an outlit when it comes to wearing a garment that is completely their own. Designed by themselves. One of a kind.
Lolitas are notorious for being excellent coordinators and have amazing creativity and I would love to be a channel for that. I don't feel like the best way I can use my talent in the community is by trying to invent a new way to incorporate forks and spoons into a print. I know artist who would love to design their own prints and have it turned into a skirt or JSK they could wear. Or Lolitas who see fabric in a store that calls out to them and wish really hard that they had the time or skill to make something out of it.
For a while I dabbled with the idea of starting a brand. It sounded fun. But then I did a couple freelance jobs on the side and was reminded that Lolitas have lots of ideas. They know what they want in a dress. And I could make it happen.( Find Out More....Collapse )
I'm just curious to hear what some of your favorite brands are out there and which ones you stay away from.
I absolutely adore Angelic Pretty, Alice and the Pirates and Baby because they have soooooo many prints I love (Cinema Doll, Vampire Requiem, Queen of Snow and the Magic of Whiteness, the list goes on and on). Once I get enough money, I'll definitely make a purchase from one of those brands.
I'm not a huge fan of Moi Meme Moitie or Metamorphose. MMM's sizing runs too small for me in the bust area and most of their items either have the same print or work much better with Aristocrat style (which I don't do). And most of Meta's items just aren't my cup of tea (though I do love their Twinkle Journey print).
So comment with your thoughts on brands, Taobao shops and indie brands!
On their Japanese-language shopblogs, Angelic Pretty has formally apologized for the difficulty people had in obtaining pieces from their Day Dream Carnival series and acknowledged the wacky resale market that's already popped up for this popular print. They also say they will be doing a made-to-order re-release for the series for the many fans who weren't able to get it. You can read the full entry here (in Japanese).
What do you guys think of this? For one, I'm glad to see AP listening to customer's demands, but... I feel kind of bad for people who paid inflated aftermarket prices or increased shopping service fees for this one only to see it come out again so soon. I'm also curious to know about the details of the re-release- will it carry the same price tag as a normal release, or will it have the higher price tag of their last made-to-order release (Cat's Tea Party)? And furthermore, what are the chances of this sure-to-be-popular re-release being made available to those of us outside of Japan? I feel like we're the customers most affected by the limited stock, since we only got 40 main pieces of the series (4 colorways x 5 main pieces x 2 stores [international webshop and US webshop]) among several thousand of us, but I have a sinking feeling there won't be any additional stock for the many non-Japanese customers so I don't know how much we will benefit from their change of heart.
And of course, most importantly... who's going to be trying to score it?
I never wear OTK/Knee socks, just tights/stockings. But since they have adorable prints on a LOT of them, I was thinking of getting some pairs to put with my coords. I was wondering how do you keep them up? My fear is them rolling down, or slowly sliding down to the point where you're always adjusting them to where they belong :o Specially if they're only *just* over the knee and not thigh high.
I was thinking sock glue or tape, but never tried it :S I'm talking about brand socks and offbrand socks, I never have worn them. Do they differ much? Would AP socks be tighter then say the Bodyline or random-from-the-shops-in-your-area ones? And I know putting stockings or tights under the socks is a nono :o Pity, cause it seemed a good idea when its cold / don't want to show legs xD
What do you do / think? :)
