I will try to do something for the solid color design contest :).
But I wish it would extend past the finals period x( !

Yeah, the timing is not so great for college students >.<;

But I do think it's wonderful that contests like this exist because it gives a chance for the companies and communities to really interact with each other. Even though there will only be a few winners, Fanplusfriend will be influenced going forward by what colors, themes and trends they notice in all the other entries.

Yeah. But do we know if they are honest with their contests (unlike BL) ?

I don't know personally, but sometimes it's worth the risk.
As a freelance artist I was originally encouraged by instructors to always boycott / never take part in questionable "contests" and commission situations but over the years I've found there's definitely something to balancing risk and reward.
If you have the drive to draft a design for a Lolita dress but you will never actually make the physical object yourself there's no risk in entering this contest no matter if it's honest or not. There's a lot to loose in never sharing your ideas and that's a common problem I run into but it's rarely ever addressed. I know a lot of people who sit on a pile of ideas and refuse to show or share any of them without some huge legal element and in the end that barrier that they think as protective turns out to be a wall that shuts them out from opportunity.
Two years ago I had to help clear out a fellow artist's house after he died. He had shown me and a select few his body of work but had otherwise kept it a secret. And then, after his death, we found out that he had destroyed every piece or work he had ever made because he didn't want anyone to get any kind of possible credit for any of his stuff. So now, besides those who saw the stuff years ago, nobody will ever know about the talent he had.

While the above is an extreme example, what I mean to simply convey is that if you have an idea, but lack the means or drive to fully pursue it on your own, there's really nothing to lose in sharing it.
(of course if this was a "fly to another country to model" questionable contest I would be singing a very different tune due to issues such as personal safety)

I drew one as well. I'm no artist, so I used my tablet and fingers to draw (a pretty bad) dress :

Thanks for sharing!
I might try, but college can get jealous and that is not good for me.

I'm gonna enter. Hoping to win but it is the first time I have designed something, plus my computer with the editing software broke so Im using pencils and water-colour...
I think it looks nice but I'm not too confident because I don't know what other people will think. Can I send a picture to someone who will be brutally (or maybe try to sugar coat things a bit depending on how awful it is XD) honest about how it looks?

I can help you :) so you can change some detail you have not seen. You can put a grid or your name around to be safe.

I just went and entered |D
I'm never going to sew any of the pieces I designed myself anyway, and it was good practice to think about how things would work and what fabrics to use, so I thought hey, just gonna give it a shot~ Though wow, I'm really no good at prints... (went for the print version, yes) Does anyone know if they send out confirmation e-mails when they received entries? I've had some trouble with my mails not getting through to my shopping service the other day, so I'm a little paranoid if people got my mails if I don't get any replies :'D
