Bodyline shoes 272 Review
3rd-Sep-2013 04:54 pm
I am reviewing 272 bodyline shoes and bodyline necklace! This is my first review/post, so I hope it is easy to understand!

I am a HUGE fan of oxford styled shoes, especially worn with lolita fashion. <3 So here we go!....

I am reviewing...
Bodyline Shoes 272 in the black colorway, size 240. (I wear a US womens size 8, and they fit me perfectly!) Also, a Alice in Wonderland jewelry piece I purchased from their website as well. :)

I wanted to review their oxford styled 272 shoes, because before I bought mine, I looked EVERYWHERE online to find a review and could not find one. So I figured I would be the first to do one on these beauties! :) At least I think i'm the first. lol This is the first pair of shoes I bought from Bodyline.

So to start off...my package actually came in the mail August 30th, but since I wasn't home, I received a notice to go to the post office to pick it up...which was today 9/3/2013. I was super happy to finally go get it and take home my package...

Sorry, I drew a heart there to block out my address. And also sorry for the glare on some of these pics...It was hard to find good lighting, plus I am not the best at picture taking. lol But anyways, there it is! I made my purchase from Bodyline on August 17th...I am VERY pleased with how fast the shipping was! It took two weeks to get to the US- California. :)

There was some flaws to the packaging. :/ I have bought a OP from them about a year ago and packaging was great! So I am a bit confused with the shoes packaging done the way it was. But I am sure it was just from its long journey here...however, I would of like better packaging to better protect the shoe box since that was the only other covering other then the outer package wrapping. My shoes could of been damaged if shipped here aggressively. Maybe I am being a bit picky for that expectation...but overall the items remained undamaged and in new condition which is what I really care about! So thank goodness for that! :)

Now for the opening of the box! :D

The necklace was placed over the one layer of bubble wrap surrounding the shoes. Still feel like there could of been more padding, but like I said, they are undamaged, so I am not docking points from Bodyline. lol Still very wonderful service and good quality items for the price! ^__^

They came with the stick thingys inside to keep the shoes in shape...along with rolled paper inside the toe for extra support, which was was nice! :)

One of the first things I noticed when I opened them was the minimal flaws...

There is a dent in the toe of the left shoe.

And the little holes were not cut super clean.

Other then that though, The shoes are very clean cut, no loose threads, true black color, beautiful design, high quality fabric, light weight, and super comfortable! I feel like I can wear them all day. I am pretty sure the flaws are things that will be hard to notice.

More Pictures of shoes....

Size:240...I wear a US women size 8 and they fit me perfectly! And yes, there is also that little room needed for wearing socks. :)</b> I have heard stories about some mess ups with Bodyline's shoes size, so I can't promise it will be as perfect for you as it is for me if you are a size 8, but it is the size I recommend because of how nice they fit me. ^__^ Also might depend if your feet are wider, etc. But I would say to measure your foot in cm and follow bodyline's shoes size chart. So far, pretty true to size. But keep in mind, room for socks! I remember my feet measuring closer to a size 335, but I rounded up to a 240 because of room for socks. But even bare foot in shoe, it is perfect with that right amount of room included! If you are size US 8 and want to buy these, I wouldn't say to go any smaller. But like I said, I have heard they are off at times. But luckly mine came out to be perfect! I am pleased. :) Sorry I am rambling lol.

More pics of shoes!

Now time to show off the necklace!

I purchased this from Bodyline's "Sandries" section where they sell alot of different accessories.
I figured I would just add something else on to my shoes purchase since shipping would stay the same and that way I would save money. I absolutely LOVE it! It is gorgeous in person. Wonderful quality and I love that it designed to be like a pocket watch. It doesn't open up, but yes you can fix the time and it does actually work as a watch! ^__^ I can't wait to wear this with my white lace blouse. <3

So overall, WONDERFUL purchase! I love everything, great quality, fast shipping.

Out of 5 stars... I give the packaging a 3.5, the shoe quality a 4.8 and the necklace a 5. I am just so happy with the purchase and the quality for the price. I absolutely love everything and will buy shoes from them again. :)

I hope you enjoyed this post and that it was easy to follow. If not, it will only improve I hope. lol But either way, I hope this has helped anyone trying to find a review and other pictures on these lovely bodyline, oxford styled lolita shoes. <3 ^__^

Hi! Question about the fitting of the shoes. I also measured my feet and one feet's closer to 24 and the other's around 23.5. I have wide feet and typically wears size 7 or 7.5 in US (7 if it's wide width, 7.5 if it's narrow), size 8's are usually way too big on me. I was wondering if you have wide feet too, and so you had to normally wear size 8? I'm just wondering if I should size down in these bodyline shoes, as i've been buying size L in japanese shoes and have discovered that all of them are waaaaaaay too big on me. T___T I have bought size 24.0 shoes that fit perfectly though, so I have always though i'm a solid 24.0, but now i'm not sure again since reading your review. i have also fit into size 6.5 in US before so at this point I'm not even sure if I have just been buying shoes too big for me in general and mis-sizing myself. x___x So confused!

Any help would be super greatly appreciated! Those oxfords are so cute and i've been wanting a pair in beige with those low 2.6" heels for AGES (US oxfords are always so narrow at the toe box and usually 3.5" heels!)

also how much cushion is in the bottom?

Thank you!!!

I would say just go with what you normally would. I was going to buy another size because I was so worried about what others where saying to do....but as far as I have seen, it is kinda different with each shoes and everyone. While others never had a problem and just stayed true to size. If a US 8 is too small normally, maybe just chance it and go with a 7? Which is a size 23 in japan I think. I am not sure, but they might run bigger then? I posted pics below of my foot with my measurements. Maybe try and compare yours to mine and see what to get from there? I will help you more if you need it. It just sucks that Bodyline shoes can't stay consistent with their sizes so we all wouldn't have to struggle so much trying to figure out what size to buy and then cross our fingers. XD lol But I know that the prices are just hard to beat and worth the struggle. But if they don't fit, you can always sell them on ebay or somewhere, and then try to order again. I know that is what some have done to find the right size.
As for cushion, they are the right amount I would say. When I feel with my hand, I can press down on them enough for a little push back. They are comfy for me. :)

Thanks for the info!

Thank you for the review on the shoes -- I'd just bought a pair while they were on the 20% sale as I was having trouble finding anything similar in local stores :)

Ah, I was waiting for a review on these! Bodyline always ships their shoes that way, it's not just you. Even, if you order just a pair of shoes and nothing else, they'll tape the box and send it as is. :/ Bodyline is very sketchy with packaging unfortunately.

Yeah, I would say that was the most disappointing thing about my shoe order. The packaging was just thrown together. >.< But at least the shoes stay nice....luckily >.<'''

Thank you for the review on these shoes! I've been considering them for a while and they do look so lovely in your photos, I'd love to buy a pair if only heels weren't so unflattering on me.

Thank you. :) I am sure they would awesome! I don't know what you look like, but I mean, I would say they are pretty standard shoes that could go with a lot of different cords and people. :) The heal is shorter too then most oxford pumps I have seen. I think they would go nice with most occasion and looks. ^__^

Ok so I made and took a picture of a diagram of my foot to best describe my foot size and measurements lol. XD I thought it might help. Sorry if it is confusing but I can always explain better or answer more questions from my experience if needed.....

My actual foot drawn on paper with measurements
I don't know if I measured the widest part of my foot right, but I just measured the widest part.

I also put a measuring tape to my foot. It should be exact, but might be slightly off since it is a bit off the paper.

True or false?
And here is another pic I did against the bodyline shoes chart lol. You don't need to pay much attention to this...it is just me rambling about a rumor I heard. I actually don't know if it is fact...but it seemed to be true for me. Maybe it is just coincidence. >.< But still I do talk about why regardless I bought the size I did.

With more specific questions, I will answer best I can under your comment. :3

ALSO!!! I made another discovery with the shoes today....if you buy these, and when you get around to wearing them, ALWAYS make sure to lace them gently. Out of habit I pulled the strings too aggressively (as I normally would because I am used to these type of shoes having some kind of grommets for the laces to go through) and I ended up tearing a bit of the fabric!! My heart skipped a beat lol I pretty much ended up ripping another hole stretching it slightly bigger >.> ....but since there is no grommets and the laces are just through a small punched hole in the shoes...I would be careful when lacing! Other then that still the shoes are beautiful and it isn't noticeable. But could potentially damage your shoes....which really sucks :/ arrrggg but Still nice for the price and they are adorable!

I wish your post was available 2 days earlier since I spent most of my night shift at work on the 1st fretting over what size I should buy and one of the sizes I was contemplating sold out while I was being indecisive. Reading your review helped to alleviate my main concern though, since it sounds like the size I got will be fine if they fit true to size for you (I'm half a US size up from you, but ordered a size up from BL, so it should work perfectly).

Thanks for the heads up on the lacing holes too. I wouldn't have given that much thought if you hadn't mentioned it, but since you did, I think I'll just put in some grommets myself before I wear them out to be extra safe since it's quite difficult to find nice oxfords with heels this size (they're always either super stilettos or flats now) and I don't want to ruin them quickly because I'm too rough lacing them up.

I am sure they will fit fine :) I am glad my advice helped, you are welcome! If they don't fit, You could always sell them and try again. >.< But I am sure they will be fine. AND YEAH lol it really made me sad for a second...because when I pulled the laces roughly it pretty much made a second hole through the fabric...describing more of how it "stretched". :/ I will most likely be doing the same thing and try and find a way to add the grommets in. Because I really don't want to risk pulling through the fabric completely like I almost did. >.< but it isnt that noticable luckly...grommets would probably make it look like it never happened. I am just wondering where they would sell grommets that small? haha I haven't seen any that small or maybe I didn't notice before...but if not, maybe I can settle for slightly bigger ones. >.> but that might look tacky. If you figure out where to get some good sized ones, please let me know! :3 or I might just try to remember to be gentle with them forever. XD

I used to make a lot of punk-style jewelry, so I have a healthy collection of grommets/eyelets and tools already. If you don't know where to start, try looking for eyelets from the scrapbooking section at craft stores and see if you can find some washers to help reinforce the eyelets (washers should be much easier to find). If the PVC is stretchy, use eyelets that are slightly larger than the hole so when you put them in, the holes stretch to fit tightly around the base of the grommet/eyelet. If there's too much slack in the elasticity of the material, the grommet/eyelet can pop out when the hole stretches.

I might wind up using a larger grommet on them anyway since my plans were to switch the default laces for some wide ribbon laces, so larger holes would be necessary anyway (and look nice with the wide ribbon). ^^;;
