Milky Planet

Looks like AP is bringing back this popular print in new styles and colors.

Not sure if I'm interested in this version, but I kind of hope they'll have a black colorway.

Darn, I guess my money is safe then.

Milky Planet is one of my favorites! I was hoping it might get a re-release! I really love that salopette in lavender. The only thing I was disappointed by was the lack of scalloping on the other pieces.

I love that dark blue! So pretty

Such a disspointment. No yellow, which is the most popular colourway, right? And I think it looks very strang in that navy colourway.

My greedy heart is disappointed (no poufy black scalloped skirt again) but my wallet says 😊 Maybe I'll find the other skirt someday...

Ugh, those look so cheap ...
1st-May-2013 10:02 am (UTC)
the original series was simplistic in design as well
i personally like the jumperskirt because of how plain it is.

I think they look cheap too and it has nothing to do with the "simplicity." It might be just the stock photo but the material looks cheap, wrinkled, and not as well-printed as the first round.

hm well they somewhat do look like they came from lucky packs

The photography and lighting is not as good as usual. It's accentuating the folds and creases. Compare http://24.media.tumblr.com/5fc2b9f1dc55c2cf28b77ceef803a71c/tumblr_mkxve14j6F1qj1wzpo1_500.jpg

I'm kind of excited, I want to see this navy version in real life! The navy of Dream Sky really grew on me so I'm thinking this might be the same. And I realllllly want to get something in the lavender colourway now! The dress designs don't look very appealing to me, but the skirt should be cute!

I'm sitting here thinking "ew". I liked the original Milky Planet but something's really off about this re-release for me. Especially that salopette; it's kind of ugly as hell. I agree they all look kind of cheap. It's not the simplistic design, it's how they went about it. That apron on the OP is like loli-chan's first sewing experiment to me. And the stripped fabric they're using as trim is just really unappealing. I'd say the best piece to me is the casual skirt, and it's still sitting in the "meh" category.

agreed it looks really off like something DOL would do.
2nd-May-2013 02:31 am (UTC)
Yeah the trim is really off for me. I preferred the plain scalloped edges of the original. It was simple, but it looked nice. This is just... eh.

For me, it's definitely the striped (dotted? I can't even tell!) trim and bows that make it look cheap. Those sorts of fabrics always remind me of the "filler" backgrounds that bodyline uses in their prints and just sort of subconsciously reminds me of cheaper dresses. The dark blue colorway instantly reminded me of the faded black replicas of the dress, further telling my brain "cheaaaaap".

I think the general design of the JSK and OP are really not fitting with the style? The first run fit the OOT/fairy kei style that the print was going for, but in going away from that it just looks meh. I think maybe I'm just totally over that whole style anyways and am seeing the dress minus the hype and just not really feeling it.

I'm pretty sure it's a stripe like they used on Miracle Candy (probably the same exact stripe as the girl series that came out a couple days ago?). The only place I can't tell is the JSK bodice bow, which almost looks checked, but I'm willing to chalk that up to a small image, otherwise I'm going to be even more confused than I am.

The rickrack + the stripe really kills it for me. I like the dark blue, but not the accents. I almost want to just skip it and see if I can pick it up later second hand on sale and get someone to swap out the trim for me....

I wanted black the most of all. But I dont like the designs, it very dolly like.

And can someone tell me what that items is above the headbow? for 3780 yen ?
it looks like a maid headdress.. or the OP?

its a 'barette'

ah thanks :)

I love the miniskirt. THAT BLUE. omg.

+1

That OP apron is just eww, plain white ugly apron. It looks like something a 7 yr. old would sew during summer camp.

I went from super excited to super disapointed in a single click...

I'm getting the lavender JSK. The JSK design is not that different from the original special set JSK. Although I like the original more it's so hard to find/expensive so I will get this one instead.

I think some people might be a bit sour that their dress which they paid a lot for has been re-released, but I am very happy that I can finally get the print :)

I got excited when I saw the title, but as soon as I clicked the link I got really sad. :(

All of them look cheap as hell, but having a navy colorway is a pretty neat idea.
2nd-May-2013 08:11 pm (UTC)
Yeah, the more I look at them, the more I don't want them. I was hoping that they were just going to do the original style.

I don't think the stripes fit with the print at all, looks stupid imo.

I don't understand this re-release after re-release crap at all - just seems AP has lost all the self respect for their art work
and just produce these things out of their ass to make money. Which I think can be seen also in the new more mainstream look of the skirt.

I've got the original version pink OP and in my opinion it's so much better than this.

wow...nothing but hate for the re-release.

I am personally not a big fan of the neckline on the original JSK (the special set one was OK but when that was released I had already bought the Yellow OP.) I love it when they re-release prints in new colorways. Also, I am obsessed with stripes! I adore MMP and Miracle Candy and basically every other print I can think of that uses stripes or polka dots in the background or as a trim, maybe with the exception of Toy Fantasy. So I was beyond psyched to get the Lavendar JSK in the new release! In Japan it is impossible to get one`s hands on anything to do with the Navy colorway of the new Milky Planet. I am not sure of how I feel about the pastel shades in the dress with dark rich blue in the new colorway. Actually, I would have preferred to see it again in black plus the stripes but for some reason Japanese girls seems to go absolutely Ape S over anything in dark blues.... I think bold colors should go with other bold colors, personally. I agree that yellow should have been brought back.

One thing I noticed other than the obvious changes is that in person the colors on the re-release seem a lot more saturated than on the original release. I thought maybe I was jut imagining things but when I compared colors on my original MP OP and the new JSK, some of the colors are more neon than pastel in the new release. Actually I love this! I don`t think it looks cheap at all. The dresses are absolutely gorgeous and different enough from the originals that I feel okay about owning one from each realease!

Completely unrelated but....I hope to god they re-release Star Night Theatre someday. I am not joking...I will buy it in every colorway except pink.
