Milanoo idea
5th-Feb-2013 07:17 pm
show me how to live
A question about that horrible lacey monster shop, Milanoo.

So I was looking for a cheap petti the other day, just to poof out my existing one a bit.

I thought, Milanoo are horrible, but if its something you can't see, they might be alright. They can't really screw up making a petticoat, can they? And they are very cheap too, so if it is terrible, no great loss.

I know I risk sounding like a icky Ita asking this, but I was genuinely curious about it.

Don't bother. Buy a Malco Modes petticoat, or literally anything else.

"They can't really screw up making a petticoat, can they?"
Unfortunately, yes, yes they can.
I have no idea about their petticoat quality but it is very easy to screw up a petticoat I'm sorry to say.

Yes, they can mess that up hard. One girl got a petticoat with a (horrible) dress she bought and it was literally a layer of fabric sewn to make a skirt.

First of all, why would you give your money to a known scammer? Secondly, bodyline, a now fairy reputable shop has petticoats, and they DO screw them up (more so that they loose their poof after one wear), so just imagine how bad Mnoo can screw it up.

It would better suit you and your money to get a petticoat from classical puppets as I've heard nothing but good things from them, or you can get a malco modes petticoat easily off eBay (the old lolita shop candy violet sold them off as lolita petticoats) and again from what I've heard work really well. I myself have a petticoat from the eBay shop victoriangirldress that is amazing, though I'm not sure they are around anymore. If you have thrift or vintage stores around you, look for a cheap petticoat there. Petticoats are in an abundance so you definitely have way better options to choose from. Do what you want, I'm just trying to save you time and money :/

Why would you want to support a company that has openly scammed people with poor quality products in the past?

I suggest ebay for getting a cheap petticoat rather than giving Milanoo any business. Leg Avenue's 8990 is a good inexpensive petti; it's the same one that Sock Dreams carries but you can find it for much lower prices on ebay.

Cheap or not, I wouldn't support them just on principal.

The company is horrible not just for their products but for their business practices, their accountability, their deceptiveness and the fact that they SCAM people. Please do not lose judgement trying to save a few dollars.

There are better ways to buy cheap petticoats, try consignment or costume shops.

It is very very easy to mess up a petticoat, you probably won't be very happy with the product if you get it at all. I wouldn't do it.

why not Victoriangirldress?
5th-Feb-2013 08:19 pm (UTC)
Okay then, thank you for the quick replies everybody!
I will go have a look at the stores you mentioned :)

Ordering from Milanoo is never okay.

Even if you luck out by some strange chance, you're still supporting their awful business with awful service that distributes awful products. Take your money elsewhere. Anywhere.

why would you want to support a company known for ripping people off? lol
if you want a cheap petti just hang out on egl_comm_sales. I've gotten some there for $10~$20

After a quick search for "petticoat", I would have to conclude that not only should one not buy one from them, one also shouldn't buy anything that looks like the ones they sell; none of these are going to actually work the way you want for lolita.

I dunno.. that Santa one is pretty convincing.

Just buy a new classical puppets petti.
BOTH of mine (full volume cupcake and a daily wear one) I got for just under $60 from their Taobao store, and after nearly two years they are stll going strong. Don't give milanoo money, its never a good idea.

Nothing on Milanoo is ever worth buying. Period. They're scammers, why would you want to give them your money? Their petticoats don't look fluffy at ALL - and even if they did they don't use their own photos most of the time. It's a waste of time and money.
5th-Feb-2013 10:46 pm (UTC)
No.

A friend of mine got a petti from them (and other things,in secret, with out telling me ><), It looked really fluffy and was advertized as made of nylon on their website. When she got it 3 months later, it was 2 layers of rock hard tulle. You are right, they are not 100% bad, 100% of the time I think you could find a better place to spend your hard earned money. :)
Taobao , etsy ,ebay or commissions if you need a custom size.

Classical Puppets have good petticoats. I'd order from them on Taobao than give my money to Milano lol
6th-Feb-2013 06:58 am (UTC)
Why would you give your money to Milanoo when there are SO MANY other alternatives?
6th-Feb-2013 07:47 am (UTC)
No, give your money to some other shop that may actually deserve them :\
6th-Feb-2013 09:24 am (UTC)
Okay I've bought a super floofy one from ebay instead n.n
Thanks for your help guys
6th-Feb-2013 06:31 pm (UTC)
I heard Millanoo is a scam!! Never bought from there and never will :)

Petticoat quality is based on a combination of structure and material qualities. Some materials wrinkle easily, and others are really springy. That's why organza is better than tulle.
Also, the way they stack the layers and whether there are ruffles at the bottom significantly changes the shape. Most likely, ordering from Milanoo would land you a cheap tulle petti that is thin to start with, and only gets thinner with time.
11th-Feb-2013 01:48 pm (UTC)
All you get is a layer of starchy tulle.... Just one....
12th-Feb-2013 07:19 pm (UTC)
I recommend a petti from Classical Puppets. They are a bit more expensive but they are very well made.
Don't bother with bodyline petticoats. They deflate way to fast and aren't all that poofy to begin with.
Or you could always try making something on your own :)
