Is this a replica?

I just stumbled across some lovely gothic lolita style gear on restyle.pl and was struck by how familiar some designs looked and wanted to ask the more experienced gals - are they replicas [I'm thinking they kinda look like Moitie] or just similar?

I don't want to get into a replica debate or anything here but just wanted to check before considering buying.

It does look a lot like the holy stained glass print from moitie, but it's not a replica of it.

Not sure if it is a replica of anything else or just heavily inspired by. The bag definitely looks heavily inspired by the iron gate bag as well, but not a direct copy.

Thanks for the link there, definitely a case of close inspiration.

Yep, the top is a 'dupe' of Iron Gate series's messenger bag, and bottom is a dupe of Holy Stained Glass.

They're clearly designed by someone who knows Moitie very well but are smart enough to change it so it's not a "true" replica. I can see in their stock that they dupe other designers too. *shrug*

Granted you can't 'copyright' design, but their items are so close to the real thing that they may as well be replicas.

Thanks for that, and I really like your way of putting that.

It might just be heavy inspired or a case like minded artists. The artist who designed the print is Klaudia Growchska.

Replica or not aside...
I have this skirt in my collection and I was very disapointed! the 'snit' of the skirt is just terrible... I ended up remaking the whole skirt.
The print on the other hand is perfect and super pretty. Better then on the pictures!!!
I wanted to just send it back first but... I didn't cause I liked the print to much and ended up tearing it apart and remaking the whole thing!!!

That sucks! Thanks for the heads up, I do like the print but I'd rather make something from scratch than remake!

well, now the skirt is redone... I really love it... but the way it was before... it was just plain awfull...
there is a builtin pettie but the fabric they use is just cheap and doesn't work.
I know other girls that got it and they didn't have that bad shape like mine did but it wasn't great eather!!!
I like to make the skirts from scratch more then remaking... it's just easyer and less work :p LOL

I'm glad you got it to a point where you like it, it is a pretty fabric :D :D And yeah! Glad you agree :)

Thanks for the review. I was contemplating buying it recently (since it's usually hard finding gothic lolita skirts with prints THAT cheap), but I've been holding off because I was afraid that the fabric would end up being thin broadcloth or something. After hearing this, I think I'll just not buy it.

I'm kind of disappointed to hear that the quality is iffy, since I've bought some accessories from there which were decent quality. I guess I'll just stick to buying their accessories in the future and avoid the clothing...

You should save those images to your own computer and upload to LJ for use here (or just remove the pictures and post the links to the items' webpages). Hot linking is against the rules (rule #4 to be specific).

Thanks for that, fixing now.
