Moms and lolita?
30th-Jan-2013 06:17 pm
Hello again! I wanted to put a shout out to any lolita moms, as I have a beautiful 1 year old girl myself =]
I would like to know however if any of you dress up your children! Maybe not in brand, but in something with a lolita feel?
Do any of you know websites that sell children's "lolita"ish wear, or maybe some of you have made something for your dear ones in past.
Just curious ole me wanted to know if I was the crazy mother who liked dress up mwahaha

It's a lot cheaper to buy them 2nd hand from Japanese auction sites, though. Try searching Yahoo!Japan for "Shirley Temple"

I dress up my daughter in mori girl mostly but lately I've been dressing her in Dolly kei and Cult party fashions. We just did a photo shoot today as a matter of fact. :)

I have a local steamstress hand make her fancy clothing. I also keep my eye out at thrift stores and ebay. I just found a beautiful hand made prairie skirt for her at Salvation Army for only $4. It's beautiful, what a steal.

I know she's not yet big enough, but Bodyline sells children sizes of some of their lolita dresses:

Bodyline sells little girl dresses in the "Kids" section that match the dresses in their "Lolita" section. They are so cute :)

I am not a mom myself but a very happy aunt to a 3 1/2 month old and have my brother and sister in laws permission to dress her up in lolita. I hit Target up after Christmas for some of their fluffier party dresses with built in petticoats. I also saw some cute pieces from FAO Schwartz at Baby's R Us.

I'm the opposite. My mom (who is in her mid 40s) is very interested in lolita and goes to our local comms meetups.

That's great your mom enjoys it too and understands!

awwwe hahaha my boyfriend thinks it's way too much, he says to me "I think it's creepy to want to look like a doll!"
I explain to him that isn't really the purpose to the fashion, but I can't say much because I take inspiration from gothic dolls mwahaha. My favourite compliment is when people refer to me as a porcelain doll ^.^ That's why I'm so excited to dress in lolita, it's everything I love about pretty things and elegance!

Oh he's a sweetheart, I just don't take fashion advice from him haha. I tell him he'll get used to it ^.^ But thank you!

Oh no he means well, but he puts his foot in his mouth a lot lol. I'm sure that once he's seen some real-life lolitas he will think differently, he's only seen pictures online. And I know you don't mean badly <3

there is shirley temple and was she's older, Emily Temple Lulu expensive though, even second hand.
You can find lots of cute stuff on taobao. And honestly as they grow soo quickly it's not worth it to spend very much on clothing.

no I wouldn't think so haha. I wanted to know if anyone else had the urge to lolify their daughter (or son) for pictures or meetups =P I would hand make a dress for a special occasion, but yes it is much too much money to spend on a very small, fast growing child.

I would totally do it if I had a daughter. When my niece was younger, she wanted to dress like a princess everyday, so I had fun with that. She thinks she's too old for it now though :/

I dress up my dog, haha. In fact, I'll make coords inspired by my dog by wearing black, a white blouse and a pink bow. (She's my profile picture)

OH MY GOSH THAT IS PRECIOUS!! I would LOVE to do that! I don't have a puppy yet, just my cat Anubis, and I don't think he'd like to wear ribbons and such >.>
Do you have any pictures of you an your dog co-ordinated, i'd love to see it!
(PS, I have always wanted to look like a princess, I don't understand how you can "grow out of it"!)

I actually put ribbons on my cat, Daisy. Not in her hair or anything cos it won't stay, just on her collar. Her tag is this really pretty flower too. I'm probably weird, but I think she looks naked when she's not wearing a ribbon because I've done it since she was a baby. As for Bubbles, not yet. I was planning on doing one soon since I got her a bunny sweater that matches my bunny hoodie. She hates the sweater, she gets all awkward when she has it on, haha. She's so cute wearing it though! I don't think her old owners loved her cos she'd rather be freezing out in the cold than to be wearing her winter coat or any type of sweater.

And I dunno, I think my niece thinks it's baby-ish now. I know she won't wear pigtails anymore for that reason. She cries when my sister puts her hair that way. And I'm sitting here like, "I'm 23 and I still dress like a princess and wear pigtails so.."

Awe that sounds so cute! I want to get Anubis a spiked cat collar, but I want to get a girl puppy to put ribbons on. I don't want to make him a lady hahahaha.
and I would gladly be a princess for my life =3

I have a 10 months old daughter. ^-^ I don't dress her in lolita at the moment but i think i will when she is older, if she want to. As the other said, Bodyline and Shirley Temple sells lolita clothes for childrens. You can also try Catherine's cottage:

There is a Facebook group called Lolita moms, you should joinj us! :D!/groups/299618580109201/

I'm 7 months along with a little girl! :) Despite not being able to fit many of my clothes, I still dress myself up, and I am definitely going to get some adorable clothes for my little one when she's a bit older. I love Bodyline's kids clothes, I really hope to be able to twin with my daughter one day!
