Wardrobe post 2013

EO1 Alchemist

Hi, I'm Rosie, and I've been a toned-down sweet lolita for about three years now. My wardrobe will be transitioning toward Classic over this year (since I'm turning 30 in March, OMG that snuck up on me!), so it will be interesting to compare these clothes to next year's!

These were my early dream dresses from each major Sweet brand and my friends made me gorgeous accessories to match them, so of course I'll be keeping them for sentimental reasons. Meta Room Print, BTSSB Bunny Milk and Snow Strawberry, and AP French Cafe.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Black gingham is one of my favorite themes. AP Cross Ribbon OP, BTSSB Strawberry Letters JSK, Meta Sherlock JSK.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
A-line JSKs - BTSSB Dessert Ribbon JSK and IW JSK that I forgot the name of even though I just got it in a Lucky Pack (cool story, bro).

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
BTSSB Waist Ribbon Scallop JSK, 3 colors. Back when I was a... I don't want to say plus-sized lolita, since I wasn't plus sized, but a size 8/10 one who could only fit L-size items, these were my absolute favorite items to wear. They're way too big for me now and haven't been selling, so I think I'm going to have them altered.

Pretty border-printed JSKs. BTSSB Alice Portrait Pearl JSK, AATP Victorian Cards II JSK (looks like an OP to me, though), and IW British Bear JSK.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Retro-themed JSKs. Meta Girly Note OP (sold as of a couple of days ago), Sweet Rococo poodles JSK, and Meta Vintage Record OP.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Casual JSKs for those times when less is more: IW Estelle JSK x 2 and AP denim salopette.

Okay, onto the skirts!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Bittersweet skirts: IW black skirt that totally looks like BTSSB, BTSSB Alice Maze skirt, Meta Cherry Gingham skirt (sold a couple of days ago).

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Some casual skirts. AATP Star Chiffon skirts x 2, and Putumayo crown skirt.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sax blue was my first sweet lolita color. Bodyline Poodles skirt (sold a couple of days ago), Meta Cat Prink skirt (also sold a couple of days ago), and BTSSB Chained Berry Memoir skirt.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Ivory-colored skirts: IW Bianca and Meta Candy House. I've found that cream/ivory/cafe au lait is tied with black as my most-worn colorway.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sweet Rococo Strawberry Splendor skirt, IW Flora skirt, Meta Old Emblem skirt.

Here are my blouses. This post made me realize that most of my blouses are quite similar. I need to mix things up more. I also need a black blouse.

All BTSSB. The sweater dress is my winter favorite!

Hats and Muffs:

BTSSB, Bodyline, Alice Doll, thrifted.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Oh, and I was wearing this one while I was taking pictures and forgot to include it (cool story, bro).

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
All Bodyline. I use these just as often with everyday clothes as with lolita.

Black shoes: Offbrand, Secret Shop, Bodyline.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
All Bodyline. When I first got into lolita, these triple-ribbon shoes were my favorite design, so I bought them in all the colors.

Bodyline, BTSSB, Bodyline.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Bodyline Boston bags.

Angelic Pretty, Swimmer, Peace Now.

I keep all of my wristcuffs and gloves in this AP French Cafe pouch. Bunnykitty, BTSSB, Bunnykitty.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Gloves handmade by/embellished by my Grandma!

Hair accessories:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sweet Rococo headbows (the poodles one got sold a couple of days ago). They're my favorite because they're so comfortable.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
IW, BTSSB, offbrand, and handmade by friends headbows.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
AP, Paradise Rose, chocomint, handmade by others bows.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Rosettes and tiny hair pins made by non-lolita family and friends (except for the one with the pearl center, which I picked up for cheap at a swap meet). I think they did a great job!

Other accessories:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
These are the types of necklaces I wear most. In general, I prefer metal accessories to plastic ones. In no particular order: Kenneth Jay Lane, Ophanim, ModCloth, Forever 21, Vintage.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Bracelets and watch. Liz Lisa, Betsey Johnson x 2, Forever 21.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
2-way Chocomint clips. I don't wear these much anymore, but I do sometimes pin them to my outerwear during cold-season swap meets so nobody mistakes it as an item that's for sale (this actually happened to me at my first swap meet).

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I got these in a Chocomint Lucky Pack when I was new to lolita. I don't wear them anymore, but it's so much trouble to sell small items that I still have them.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Chocomint, BTSSB novelties, and vintage pins.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Metal rings - my favorite kind! BTSSB, Jane Marple, Ophanim, ModCloth, Wet Seal. The pin is from BTSSB's Chained Berry Memoir series.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Deco rings. I know I have more than this, but these were the ones I had the most access to. Most of them are offbrand/handmade by friends, but there are a couple of Chocomint ones in there. I wear the rose ones a lot and the ribbon one occasionally, but the others don't get much use anymore.

I also have a lot of generic-looking accessories, like faux pearl strands, crystal solitaire rings in coordinating colors, etc. that I decided to leave out because they're kind of boring to look at.

As you probably noticed, a lot of my items were recently sold. I used them to buy this, which is on its way:

Hope you enjoyed!

I think your wardrobe is very cute. I especially like the Dessert Ribbon JSK!
Out of curiosity, do you feel the need to transition to classic because you're turning 30, or has your personal style changed?
29th-Jan-2013 10:11 pm (UTC)
Thanks! I really like that one, too. I got it at a swap meet for super cheap! X3

A bit of both, I guess? I've been feeling too old for my pastels lately, and my taste has been gravitating more toward clean and simple items in muted colors with minimal lace. My most-worn items are the Estelle, British Bear and Victorian Cards JSKs and the Alice Maze skirt.
29th-Jan-2013 09:56 pm (UTC)
that baby sweater dress is amazing!!! i've never even seen it before.
29th-Jan-2013 10:13 pm (UTC)
Thanks! I came across it at BTSSB SF while trying to hit up their January's 2012 sale. Ended up buying it and no sale items, haha!
29th-Jan-2013 10:14 pm (UTC)
you made the right choice! it is awesome! do you have a worn picture at all?
30th-Jan-2013 06:23 am (UTC)
I don't, but I can take one tomorrow after class for you. :)
30th-Jan-2013 04:30 pm (UTC)
oh wow that would be amazing! thanks :D
30th-Jan-2013 07:05 pm (UTC)
No problem! I almost never bother to photograph my coords, and you just gave me some motivation to.

Here I am wearing the sweater dress!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I just looked it up, and it's called Snow Star OP!
30th-Jan-2013 07:06 pm (UTC)
!!!!! it is SO CUTE! definitely going to have to add it to my wishlist! i would live in that thing all winter long.
30th-Jan-2013 07:22 pm (UTC)
That's basically what I do (unless there's a meetup/party with other lolitas, and then I go all-out)! It's comfy, flattering, and "normal-looking" enough to wear on my conservative Catholic campus/at work without too many raised eyebrows.
29th-Jan-2013 10:07 pm (UTC)
Awww, your wardrobe is so prettyyyyyy <333 !
I love your AP denim salopette and you Putumayo crown skirt !!
29th-Jan-2013 10:15 pm (UTC)
Thanks! They're rather unusual items! I got the salopette from a friend who couldn't fit into it (she was too tall) and I impulse bought the crown skirt at an anime con.

Who is the character in your icon? She reminds me of Enma Ai from Jigoku Shoujo/Hell Girl, but I don't remember this character wearing lolita!
29th-Jan-2013 10:21 pm (UTC)
I see ! I really hope to go to an anime con too someday, to grab something like that :D !

Well, you're totally right, it's Enma Ai from Jigoku Shoujo (^-^)b ! It's from the episode Jigoku Shoujo vs. Jigoku Shounen (first season). I loved the fact to see Ai wearing Victorique-like clothes (from GOSICK) !
30th-Jan-2013 06:30 am (UTC)
I hope you can make it to one too! They're a lot of fun!

Haha! I really enjoyed Jigoku Shoujo when I first saw it, but I forgot this episode!

Have you seen the anime Shiki? There's a really cute lolita character in it with a similar look to Enma Ai named Sunako. I definitely recommend it!
30th-Jan-2013 07:06 am (UTC)
Thanks ^3^ !

I'm currently watching is, just started the season 3. But I have the feeling I will dislike it. Hope it won't ruin the two first seasons (that I loved).

No, I haven't ! Thanks for the recommendation ! It's now next on my to-watch list :D.
30th-Jan-2013 07:38 am (UTC)
I thought season 3 was a really interesting concept/way to bring Enma Ai back and the ending to it is good (which is something I liked about all of the seasons, they wrapped up nicely), but I didn't like it as much as the earlier ones.

If you liked Jigoku Shoujo, I have the feeling you'll like Shiki too. They have a similar slow but deliberate pacing where each character has their chance to shine and dark horror theme.

30th-Jan-2013 12:17 pm (UTC)
I hope I will end up liking it as well...

Ok, thank you ! I love receiving recommendation for anime. It's improving my anime culture (èwé).
29th-Jan-2013 10:39 pm (UTC)
I love everything. But my favorites are your leopard printed fur items, your meta room print, the ap french jsk, the meta sherlock and that cute iw british jsk as well.
Such a great wardrobe, i honestly loved it!
30th-Jan-2013 06:22 am (UTC)
Thank you! Those are all items I wear fairly regularly (except the Sherlock JSK, but I'm planning on wearing it more often once I buy a black blouse)!
29th-Jan-2013 11:16 pm (UTC)
I love your wardrobe. Well done! I prefer metal jewelry as well. (Though I'm a late starter, so have really decided that sweet is just NOT for me.) The sweet items you still have are nice and "toned down" and I think it's sweet you're keeping the dresses your friends made accessories for. Besides, you could wear them with cardigans and go for a more Otome aesthetic.

30th-Jan-2013 06:34 am (UTC)
Thank you! Yes, I think metal jewelry goes a long way in giving an outfit a more age-appropriate feeling.

Haha, I'm sentimental that way! I was thinking about shopping around for some nice cardigans, or getting more cutsews/turtleneck pullovers to give that aesthetic.
29th-Jan-2013 11:41 pm (UTC)
Beautiful wardrobe! I love the variety from your clothes to your accessories.
Those gloves made by your grandmother are gorgeous. :)
30th-Jan-2013 06:43 am (UTC)
Thank you! I'm happy you like my grandma's work. She was really talented.
29th-Jan-2013 11:57 pm (UTC)
You have done the impossible and made me actually LIKE looking at black gingham. Your photographs really show off to advantage what is a versatile and highly wearable wardrobe. 8D I love this post!

Do I remember correctly if you had a hat collection? (*insatiable)
30th-Jan-2013 07:08 am (UTC)
Haha! I'm surprised at how many lolitas dislike black gingham. Thanks! I don't think my photography skills are that great, but I guess I grouped the items nicely!

Yes, I do have a lot of hats, but they're more for non-lolita fashion (cloches, fedoras, turbans, knit hats, Russian trapper hats, and wide-brimmed straw hats). I haven't found any non-beret hats that I like with lolita yet. Bowlers and boaters are cute on other girls, but they don't suit my face shape and/or hairstyle well.
30th-Jan-2013 10:35 am (UTC)
Oh, no wonder. I do like your berets, however. BABY's fawn fur releases were especially eye-catching on your wardrobe door... and I've got to get some hat display hangers like yours. They look SO useful.

I think my polite dislike of black gingham comes from memories of being made to wear it as a child. I think it was in fashion back then. But it does look good on other people. ;)
30th-Jan-2013 12:55 am (UTC)
ahhh!~ You have such a cute wardrobe with so many cute accessories! Totally loving that fawn fur beret. It's super cute!
I'm really enjoying the Meta Cat skirt. :> Thanks again!
30th-Jan-2013 07:20 am (UTC)
Thanks! That fawn beret is BTSSB, and one of my favorite and most versatile. The ribbon on it is removable/repositionable, and I've worn it many different ways!

I'm so glad you're enjoying your new skirt! Isn't it the comfiest skirt ever? I loved how comfy it was (moreso than how it actually looked on me, LOL).

Thanks for buying it so I could get my IW Violin JSK!
30th-Jan-2013 01:29 am (UTC)
Hiya! How have you been! OTL I'm totally going to respond to your pm today, I promise. School's been a bit crazy, is all.

BUT YES. Anyway, I love your closet! :) I love the Victorian Cards dress, and that telescope necklace is pretty darn cool.

(And also, if you ever do decide to sell that bxw strawberry letters jsk, totally hit me up!)
30th-Jan-2013 07:54 am (UTC)
Hi! I totally forgot to respond to your message saying that the skirt you were interested in had been sold, so we're even, LOL! We're both in uni so I totally get how easy it is to lose track of... well, everything that's not study-related. I feel kind of bad because I haven't talked to my (living) grandma (not the one who made the gloves) since the semester started.

Thanks! I bought the telescope necklace to match with the star chiffon skirts my husband bought me for my birthday 2011, and my friend made me the black wristcuffs to match with it too. :)

(Okay, I will!)
30th-Jan-2013 03:28 am (UTC)
Hi! Yay, you finished it! ^_^ Love your closet!
30th-Jan-2013 07:57 am (UTC)
Thanks! Good luck getting yours up in time!
30th-Jan-2013 04:10 am (UTC)
i love your fawn fur beret <3
30th-Jan-2013 07:58 am (UTC)
Thanks! It's my favorite hat and I was so lucky to find it!
30th-Jan-2013 05:31 am (UTC)
I love the gloves your Grandma made you! You have a really lovely toned down sweet wardrobe. I totally understand how you feel about wearing sweet as you get older. I'm an older loli too and over the last year or so I've found myself wearing less sweet and more classic. I still love the sweet prints but my style is just changing.
30th-Jan-2013 07:10 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I'm so happy that my hands are the same size that hers were when she was my age!

And yeah, I feel the same way. Still love sweet lolita fashion, but I just don't want to wear it as much as classic.
30th-Jan-2013 08:44 am (UTC)
You have so many pretty items in your closet! I love the estelle dresses, the gingham dresses, the snow bunny one, the AP denim one etc....
And it looks like you have good storage for everything too.
30th-Jan-2013 07:12 pm (UTC)
Thanks! All of those pieces are really wearable. And yes, everything fits in my little closet just so! (I don't have a walk-in one. ;^; Maybe someday...)
30th-Jan-2013 11:05 pm (UTC)
Hey, I have the same Alice Portrait JSK :3

Nice wardrobe!
31st-Jan-2013 02:30 am (UTC)
Yay, we're dress twins! :D

Thank you!
31st-Jan-2013 06:37 am (UTC)
Everything is so adorable TwT!
31st-Jan-2013 05:54 pm (UTC)
Thanks! X3
31st-Jan-2013 01:42 pm (UTC)
Wow so cute! May I ask where your fawn hat is from? : )
31st-Jan-2013 05:54 pm (UTC)
Thanks! The fawn hat is from BTSSB. It's really rare and hard to get, so I overpaid for it when it came up on the comm_sales. I hope you can find one too! :)
31st-Jan-2013 04:52 pm (UTC)
cute wardrobe!
i noticed some scuffs on your shoes :< you should try some goof off, that's how i get my scuffs out!
31st-Jan-2013 05:50 pm (UTC)
Thanks for the compliment and the advice! I've tried a couple of things to try to get the scuffs off (someone suggested rubbing alcohol, another friend suggested a Magic Eraser), but nothing has worked so far. >_<;;;

I'll try goof off next!
